This is one of four inks used in making color copies and color photographs. In combination with the other three it does a very good job.

As I've mentioned in other reviews on HP ink, the ink has been reliable and odor free. It's easy to get spoiled and wonder if costs can't be cut by buying refills or cheaper brands; I've tried that and have now gone back to HP ink and have no regrets.

Printer and ink form a partnership which can produce excellent long term results if given the opportunity. I believe that HP has developed equipment and products which enjoy a successful partnership and I don't begrudge HP making a profit on their work; I want them to stay in business!

For the record, I'm not an HP employee, nor affiliated with HP in any way beyond being a satisfied customer!

The biggest complaint for personal inkjets is well.. ink. It's always expensive and you feel like you are spending the lionshare of your purchase on the fancy packaging and plastic delivery mechanism. We use our printer for casual use and a decent amount of photo 4x6 printing. These XL inks definitely last longer than the std versions that shipped with the printer, and yellow always seems to go first. But they work as advertised, and never last as long as you want them to. We've had our printer for 2 years and replaced inks once a year now.

The colors seem to pop when using the special 4x6 papers and drying time is very fast. I haven't seen any fading in pictures that were printed 2 yrs ago with these inks, and they are advertised to not fade, so i guess its working as advertised.

I ordered the three primary 564XL color cartridges. Two came directly from Amazon: 5-stars! Exactly as advertised. However, the third came from "MegaToners". BEWARE! The order was for an Original cartridge and it was swapped out for a remanufactured cartridge. In addition, the remanufactured cartridge did not have the microchip attached to the cartridge. The printer did not recognize the new cartridge. Nowhere in the packaging was there instructions on what to do with the cartridge without a chip. Through some internet research, I learned that I could transfer the OEM chip to the remanufactured cartridge and it might work. I did that, and the new cartridge still did not work. Rip-off!!! I will be requesting a full refund on the third cartridge.

Not sure what I was sent, but this cartridge was NOT in the retail packaging (it was in a bubble-wrap bag), and when I put it into my computer, it did not work. What a waste of time and money.

it was Cheap price - I got the cart fast and in good shape - but it was not in the box and it said OEM - HUM - after reading about all the fakes I wounder was it a good price or a fake - HUM -
It looked real and had all the HP wrappings - well I hope Amazon keeps an eye on the suppliers

The last couple of times I ordered this cartridge at Amazon Prime I received the cartridge from an affiliate minus the box. There was a note saying that this is a genuine HP cartridge but for some reason they had to ship without the box. This makes me a little nervous -- is it really an HP product? It seems to work OK (hence the 5-star rating), but the lack of the box makes me nervous. This time I ordered it directly from the HP website -- a bit more expensive but I know I will get the real thing. Sorry, Amazon, you are my favorite retailer by far, but I want to know I'm getting what I paid for.

Installed cartridge on 12/1/11 it either ran out after one week (no photos printed) or never worked to start with. Came shrink wrap only. Either refilled or out of date. Would suggest either Amazon or Ink Express replace this cartridge.

My review is just to say that this printer ink is probably what you're expecting to receive, but it's not in the cardboard box. It is certified by HP as being brand new, and it's wrapped up to ensure it's not dried out. That's why it's cheaper than other ink colors, and it's actually a good deal. The XL is a better deal than the normal size, and works out to be cheaper over the long run. I did all the math and research on this, so you can trust me on that. This price is good unless you have a coupon somewhere -- I checked Staples and all the other name brand stores. So, don't over-research if you need HP 564 printer ink. This is a good deal.

Well I take a chance and order since the ad shows a retailed package product and states it is retail packaged. So Sorry no such luck. It comes bubble wrapped with a cardboard insert stating "thank you for your purchase from ink EXPRESS. This inkjet has been purchased from HP's asset recovery program without RETAIL BOX. It is brand new, with a 10month plus code date..." Well there you have it. The add states retail box and they admit they lied on the insert stating it was without retail box. If they will be deceptive about this how the heck to I know code date or whether it has been refilled?

WILL NEVER buy Ink Express products again.

Amazon should pull the add for deceptive advertisement practices

I specifically bought the "retail package" version of this product ("HP 564XL Magenta Ink Cartridge in Retail Packaging (CB324WN#140)"). It still shows that on my Amazon Orders page. But what I received was a non-retail version with no HP packaging in bubble wrap. From Ink Express. Buyer beware.
