This is my third power cord. The one that came with my HP Compaq 6710b started having problems long ago and had to be retired. I ordered a third party replacement that ran VERY hot and towards the end started making a very disturbing popping sound. I was hesitant to order another HP cord but the first one took much more abuse than the second, so I figured I'd stick to what gave me the best results. This one is working fine and hasn't presented any "quirks" that I've come to expect from these cords.

I ordered and received 4 of these power supplies to use as spares for our employees. 2 of the 4 were non-functional. Tried them on several HP laptops in the office. The 2 that did "work" were very hot to the touch after less than an hour of being plugged in and when plugged in made the New Hardware Found setup run and state that a network port was now available, but cable was unplugged, originals do not do this. The label on them says they are HP supplies, the labels look like the label on the originals, but it's not affixed like the originals. The label on the originals would be very hard to remove, as it is almost fused to the power supply, but these are just cheap stickers. They look like the original, but they don't feel like the actual HP supplies I have. The power plug prongs that go into the wall are too narrow, but will fit when you wiggle it back and forth to get it into the outlet, the supply plug to the laptop is very loose and easily comes out of the laptop.

All in all, just real crappy counterfiet. If you're going to make knock offs, just call them something else, don't try to say they are HP Orignal when they are clearly not. Oh and make sure they work, that would be helpful too.

After two days of light use the adapter almost caught fire. I should have known that it was too good to be true. When I lifted the adapter it was way too light and to small to be from HP. So, I would advise buying the adapter from HP's website and paying whatever price it is for the real thing.
