Nice and small, September 13, 2007
This review is from: HP Compaq Business Notebook nc4010 - Pentium M 725 1.6 GHz - 12.1" TFT ( PM268UC#ABA ) (Electronics)
I've had my NC4010 for about three years as of 9/2007, so it's old technology, but it still works very well for the web and all the applications that I need it for. Don't consider running Vista on it, but XP works well. 512MB of RAM is OK, but it's cheap to upgrade.
It weighs about 3.3 lbs without the second battery (you can use two batteries at the same time for about 5 hours of runtime), so the form factor is excellent and the keyboard is not too compressed. A hinge broke last year and it took a while to get one on eBay. HP support is not what it should be for a business notebook like this.
This laptop does NOT have an optical drive, but you can use an external drive. Presumably, you can boot from a USB drive if you ever need to reload the OS. You can pick up a port replicator with drive bays for a reasonable price these days.
