4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing value with some minor cons, September 8, 2010
This review is from: HP Compaq - Presario CQ62-238DX Laptop / AMD Athlon II Processor / 15.6" LED HD Display / 3GB DDR3 / 250GB HD / Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW / 802.11b/g/n WLAN / Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit / Black (Personal Computers)
I got the CQ 62 238DX for $380. And this is my second Compaq. My old Compaq is 5 years old and still running. This new one is also amazing. Can't believe it has 3gb of RAM and a dual processor, so it's fast. The graphics are good too. I managed to get it to play Modern warfare 1 on low graphics settings. The 15" inch screen is really great for games and watching DVDs. The keys are a little wobelly, but they're good sized so it doesn't really matter. The speakers are also better than most laptop speakers, they can get decently loud with good quality.

The biggest con for me was the switch from XP to windows 7. I really liked XP and its user interface. But I'll get used to 7 soon enough. This 7 OS has some really cool things about that you can probably figure yourself. The next con is that there is no memory card reader, which isn't that bad considering the computer is so dang cheap that you can just get a memory card reader for $10 to $15 that plugs into a USB port. The next con, that you will find more annoying is that the battery life is terrible. Unplugged, you can get inly up to 2 hours on power saver mode. For me that wasn't a problem because I got it as a desktop replacement.

I give it 5 stars as a desktop replacement, but 3 stars as a laptop.
