3.0 out of 5 stars Quality good, paper feed bad.
The quality of the print is excellent and my pictures/documents printed pretty quickly. My main problem with this printer is the paper feed; not really with regular paper, but I had problems printing on label paper. The label paper would get stuck and cause a paper jam and when it finally did go through, it would start printing the labels right at the top of the page...

3.0 out of 5 stars Quality good, paper feed bad., January 10, 2008
This review is from: HP D1455 Deskjet Printer (Color) (Office Product)
The quality of the print is excellent and my pictures/documents printed pretty quickly. My main problem with this printer is the paper feed; not really with regular paper, but I had problems printing on label paper. The label paper would get stuck and cause a paper jam and when it finally did go through, it would start printing the labels right at the top of the page. After about 10 lost label pages I gave up and decided to return it. My only other complaint is that like most other HP printers, the color ink cartridge comes with all 3 colors together instead of in 3 separate tanks, thereby wasting tons of ink (ok, maybe not tons, but a lot).

My husband got this printer when we ordered our new computer. It was a "deal" and replaced a perfectly good working Epson or dell or something. Such a deal. My favorite feature is the one where you have to insert the paper multiple times to make it work or change the settings every time because they default to things that you haven't set it to and it takes 3 days to print 1 page in black and white. It's not much quieter.

I spend a lot of time with computers and am a network administrator generally considered to be good with technology. Let's hope the 3rd time's the charm on this fine printer this evening....

Get something else. It's got to be better than this.

1.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for!, March 25, 2009

This review is from: HP D1455 Deskjet Printer (Color) (Office Product)
I have this printer for almost a year now. My last HP was great!! I purchased this one new on Ebay. At first everything was fine. But now sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. For example right now I am trying to print something. The light is not blinking to let me know there is a problem and when I open the printer folder on my desktop, the document is waiting YET NOTHING...This happens often. Also it takes too many pages at once and then they all get jammed up. Well, you get what you pay for. It was definitively cheap. I recommend you just buy a better printer the first time around!

1.0 out of 5 stars Paper jams over half the time, goes through cartridges quickly, October 19, 2008
By
This review is from: HP D1455 Deskjet Printer (Color) (Office Product)
I've now been using this printer for one week. Over half the time, I have to feed in each page one by one, or else it jams. This isn't just for big jobs that require a large stack of paper at the start. It happens even for two-page jobs. I tried separating each sheet before putting it in the printer tray because I thought the sheets were sticking together and causing the jams, but the jams continued after that. Occasionally, it'll feed properly, but that's the exception and not the norm. I can't complain though, as I got this free with rebate for buying something else. But when the starter cartridge runs out, I'll trash the printer because it's not worth the cost of a new cartridge. If you get this free with rebate, then great, but don't spend money on this printer. Other people here have mentioned jams too, so it seems like you might get a good printer, but there are major problems in quality consistency. Thanks for listening.

UPDATE Oct. 21, 2008: I checked the ink levels last night (if you install HP Solution Center you can check the ink levels), and this thing eats through cartridges. I was shocked that the ink level was less than half after some minor printing entirely at draft quality. I don't think it's a problem with the printer, but rather a problem with the cartridges coming with too little ink. In any case, be prepared to go through a lot of cartridges.

Also, I tried to print labels last night, and as others have mentioned, it jams even if you feed it in one by one. Twice I had to open the back door to clear the jam. Very frustrating!

Got this at staples for $52. It's very small, very compact, and does a pretty good job for not too much money. It's not very fancy but it's good and will get the job done. I had one paper jam because I put the alignment slider too far in and the paper went in at a weird angle but I fixed it and it's all good. The helpful make drivers allowed me to align my printer and test it to get it perfect.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

4" X 6" photo paper jams and misfeeds through the printer. 7 sheets photo paper inserted. Sheet 1 jammed inside the printer. Sheet 2 cut 1/2" off one side of photo and made a 1/2" border on the other side. Sheets 3-7; misfed allowing one photo to be spread over 4 pages! The only pages that ever fed through properly were the 2 cartridge alignment test pages. Printer re-boxed and sent back to Amazon. Shocking (to me) compared to all my other HP products. Don't know if it was a one off quality issue, but sounds similar to "Pussycats" review.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shame On You HP., October 4, 2011
This review is from: HP D1455 Deskjet Printer (Color) (Office Product)
What a huge pile of steaming dung. If someone offers you one of these for free, run the other way as fast as you can go. Lots of paper jambing problems. And ink cartriges that are probably almost empty when new. The old HP printers were great about 10 yrs before this junk was produced. Lately i have been very disappointed with HP products. I was a huge fan once. My old 812c still works like a charm and was built like a tank. This thing was a problem from the get go. If and when it works, it works decently. But thats not often enough. Into the dumpster you go. Or maybe target practice with my rifle. Less than one star from me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst printer I've ever used, July 11, 2011

A friend got this as part of a package deal - essentially free - but it's not worth even that. It must have been a design exercise for a new engineering group, and can't believe that HP would let this happen, much less actually ship it, even for free. I have had other budget HPs that worked quite nicely, at least for a few years, but this one was a problem from the start. You have to feed it one sheet of paper at a time, and even that will as likely jam as not. The ink goes . . . well, I don't know where the ink goes, but it's not onto the paper. A cartridge lasts no more than 50 pages, or maybe it just dries up quickly. When we do get a successful print, it's nowhere near my other HP, which cost a whopping $50 new.
