The HP D2530 is just your average ink jet printer, and at $39.99, with free shipping, it is a good value. My only complaint is that it came with only the tri-color cartridge; no black cartridge included. The tri-color cartridge does, however, print in a light, almost brown, black. For less than $40 what do you expect? The reality is that HP and the other manufactures earn their profit on the ink and lose on the printer itself.

this printer is cheap, small, and easy to use. installing it (on a mac) was quick and simple. it prints really fast and it takes up virtually no space on my desk. My old printer died and i needed something simple to just print the occasional paper on so for my purposes this printer is perfect.

oh and just as a heads up:
1. dosent come with black ink, but it comes with a color cartridge that will print nearly black.
2. no connection cord, but it's just the standard device to computer cord, it costs like 6 dollars if you dont already have one just lying around.

i can see how those things could be annoying but honestly the printer's cheap what do you expect?

the price was so low i thought the unit would be total junk but after i got it i was surprised the unit was terrific. dealing with amazon is just great.

1. No connection cord to the computer
2. No black cartridge (as other people have stated); I thought this wouldn't be a problem since the printer is cheap but it's still annoying.
3. I can't use it. Every single time I try to use this printer, I get a paper jam error. I can't print anything. I've done everything I can think of but I get the error message even when there is just 1 piece of paper in the printer. The paper isn't even jammed. Since I just need a basic printer for grad school, I'm really annoyed about this.

If I knew I'd get my money back, I'd return it. Don't buy this printer.

This printer came without black ink and without the cord to attach it to the computer. It doesn't have enough memory to print a long address list and the memory can not be increased under options. There is no help section on the installation disk. It is O.K. for small jobs and that is all.

I picked this up at a Target store. Like the previous reviewer, watch out for the lack of black ink. I noticed on the top of the box at the last second. For what I print (school work), the quality is just fine. It is not the fastest printer but is more than suitable for most jobs. So far no complaints, I just hope the ink doesn't run out too fast.

Just to confirm that this is really a bad piece of equipment. Very frustrating, we spent a week fighting with the bogus "paper jam" messages, "our of ink" (on a new cartridge!), red-only prints...

I was really relieved when I returned it to the shop (I did not buy through Amazon). Next, I will be returning the $25 cable I had to buy because it was not included with the printer.

When I was a kid, HP was synonimous with "high-quality, if slightly more expensive, gear". Funny how a single piece of badly designed junk has managed to change my whole opinion of the brand. My next buy will be anything but an HP.

This printer is so bad... I have decided to never buy another HP product again.

LOOK at the TOP of your box... says BLACK INK included... nope. Not in the box. Called HP and they said it's up to the store to include BLACK ink, of course the store says that's HP's problem. How lame. And the printer is weak, slow, jams, quality is bad. Just a waste of money. Should have paid more for a more quality competitor.

Good Basic printer at a good price.
I would consider and recommend again for best value printer.

This is a great printer for small home based projects. Very clear printing and efficient. I would suggest this to anyone that needs a simple printer for home.
