4.0 out of 5 stars Great little printer
This really is a great little printer. I moved from an all-in-one canon MP170 to this printer to free up valuable desktop space, and I find that when printing photos on glossy stock the color representation is better on this HP than on the more expensive Canon MP170. 3.0 out of 5 stars A good cheap printer
This printer is fine for the casual user who does not do a lot of printing. Setup is easy, and print quality good. Installing new ink cartridges is straight forward and easy.

My biggest "beef" is that the printed page is ejected out right on top of the paper in the input tray; a rather weird design, I think.

This really is a great little printer. I moved from an all-in-one canon MP170 to this printer to free up valuable desktop space, and I find that when printing photos on glossy stock the color representation is better on this HP than on the more expensive Canon MP170. The paper feed path is part of what saves space here, both in height and depth. I don't need 18" of overhead space to feed the paper since it lays flat in front of the printer, and when the paper tray is folded up it only takes up 9" of depth on my desk. Yes, it feeds the printed page out over the storage tray, but...I don't find this to be a problem at all. I was expecting to have to buy a separate dye-sub printer for photos, but so far the print quality is good enough that I'm putting that on hold. For the money, this is a good deal for the home user.

However, like I said, it's ok for ocassional use. I purchased and installed this printer for a friend who falls into the above catagory.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Good Printer, January 6, 2009

I am pleased with my purchase of this product but there were problems. One problem is that one cable needed to get this product to work was not included. It is the cable that would connect the printer to the computer. That cable could be significantly expensive, depending on what store you buy it from. Another problem is that Hewlett-Packard, on its web site, promised telephone support, e-mail support, and online tech support for this product. After I bought it, when I tried to get telephone support, their message was that they do not provide telephone support for this product. I did receive online support and e-mail support. I found this printer relatively easy to set up and it works well.

To Richard Thompson of Montclair, New Jersey, who had so much trouble with the paper tray. There is an extender tab, which, when pulled out (duh), controls the printed paper very nicely. This great little printer is worth at least $100.00 more than the selling price. I have had several, and this is by far the best. Richard King, Fabius, NY

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Printer, February 7, 2009

Purchased it because it had good reviews; and because my last two HP printers were excellent products. Easy to use and replace cartridges; however, quite often I get messages that something is stuck in the printer when that's not the case at all. This requires that I shut it off, turn it back on, and then it's fine. Bit of a hassle in that respect. Also, tells you quite early in the game that cartridges are low; but I'm not replacing any until the print starts to go. It's obvious that my copies are good and it's not necessary to replace them. It's still a decent product for the low price.

5.0 out of 5 stars HP D2560 Deskjet, December 12, 2008

I purchased the HP D2560 Deskjet to print basic documents like letters, forms, print screen images, etc. I bought a Canon Pixma 9000 to print high-quality photo images, but an 8-color printer it is too expensive to use for everyday, plain paper printing. The HP D2560 is an inexpensive option for this kind of printing. The ink cartridges are small, but there are XL sizes available. The two printers together are a dynamic duo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, March 19, 2009
This review is from: HP D2560 Deskjet Printer (Office Product)
I received this printer tonight. Took 30 minutes to unpack and set up and install software. Printed off my home page and not only is it fast but has a nice print to it. This is not a printer for a person that prints a lot of stuff but for the average person like me that needs one every now and then, then this is the one for you. Have not done photos yet but I did not buy for photos. Just needed a printer for a quick print of whatever I am referencing at the time. Good buy, quick delivery, and quality product for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good little printer, March 18, 2009

This is a good little printer for the money. It works well and it prints fast. Real fast. The print quality is good and so is the color. Quiet it is not, but ear plugs are cheap. However, the tiny little ink cartridges are not cheap. They will cost you as much as you paid for the printer. Well almost. Larger capacity cartridges are available but I am afraid to price them. If you don't do alot of printing and you have a middle class income its a great little printer. If you do alot of printing and are employed buy AIG and received a retention bonus, its also a great little printer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not trouble-free, but acceptable, May 11, 2009

The installation instructions as written caused my computer to lock up twice, when I used the second method suggested, the installation went without a hitch. The printer works well but HP installed a bit of software that covers the printer as well as a HP scanner that I also own and I had to uninstall a portion of this unwanted intrusion for it was interfering with the performance of my computer. The HP software engineers haven't finished the job because I recently had to download a "patch" to overcome another "lockup" problem. I marvel at the large variety of printers that HP has developed and foisted on the public. Do thay all have problems associated with them? I'd rather see less of a choice of printers that were problem-free! As another reviewer pointed out, their ink cartridges are parsimonious, and in my opinion, a veritable license to steal.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Choice, December 2, 2009

At this price point I really didn't expect much. I was not disappointed.

While the printer is easy to set up and does the job, it has too many faults. There is not a receptacle for the printed sheets. If one does not keep their hand in front of the printer while printing, the printed sheet will fly across the room. The paper feed will work properly about half the time. The other half requires pulling the paper supply out and reinserting it for proper feeding. It feeds multiple sheets of paper way too often for my tastes. This results in partial printing on several sheets, requiring reprinting the project.

I have not tried printing photos from this printer and therefore cannot speak to the photo quality.

All in all, I would suggest making another choice when considering a purchase. A little more money in the beginning will save a lot of frustration later.
