4.0 out of 5 stars good value
Very satisfied so far. It looks good and it works great. My only complaint so far is the Lightscribe feature with DVDs. You can barely see it. It looks great on CDs but not on DVDs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this laptop!
I bought this model laptop in February of 2007. In November of 2007, the screen split in two. I called HP who initially refused to repair it under warranty. 1.0 out of 5 stars IT'S BETTER TO THROUGH YOUR MONEY TO THE GARBAGE!, November 17, 2009
This review is from: HP Pavilion DV9220US 17" Entertainment Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5200, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, SuperMulti DVD Drive, Vista Premium) (Personal Computers)

My sister and I and a friend bought the same computer less than two years ago and they are giving us the same problems.
The screen split in half, gets crashes, the charger and cord are broken, everything seems to be falling apart, etc....

I've been reading lots of reviews and it seems like a lot of us are having the same problems, I do believe we should all contact HP and complain about it!!
We paid $1400 each for 3 computers that lasted less than two years! I dont think I will get any money back and at this point It is worthless to try fixing them, I will try to call again and complain....Never again I will buy a HP!!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars lasted 1.5 years, January 19, 2009

The machine worked great until the screen split in half and the hinge to open the laptop broke. At first they wouldn't repair it because I was out of the warranty period, then they changed course and said it was a special recall item and that they would. So, I sent it in for repair... It came back repaired but then I immediately started getting the Windows blue screen of death - i.e. crashes. After much hassle, they agreed to take it in again and they changed the memory and system board. It came back again, and then the hard drive crashed within 1 day - hah! Not sure what the repair people are doing, but they seem to do more harm than good. Now they won't repair it anymore and effectively say "you're on your own". So, I purchased a new hard drive, installed it, and now my recovery cd's won't work because the graphics don't allow me to see the first window of the recovery process. The window extends below the viewing area and can't be moved up. I called them back and they said I need to pay for new recovery CDs. Are you kidding?!? Anyway, tech support stinks and so does the laptop itself.

If you do buy, buy an extended warranty.
