Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

HP's DeskJet 3520 color inkjet printer offers a great package of basic features, perfect for home use. Delivering 2,400 dpi printing at speeds of 8 ppm in black and color, the 3520 offers reliable performance in a compact, space-saving design. It has a single 100-sheet paper tray that's able to handle plain paper, envelopes, transparencies, cards, and more. A single cartridge printing system keeps things simple, while on-screen ink-level monitoring and print cancel save you time and money.

To get the most out of your DeskJet 3520, consider adding an HP No. 27 black ink cartridge (HP model C8727AN, sold separately). With this cartridge, you can increase the printer's speed to a manufacturer-rated 12 ppm and produce high-quality black text documents. Note that only one cartridge can be installed at a time, so if you use only the tri-color cartridge, the three colors blend to produce near-black; if you use only the black cartridge, the printer can't produce color at all. However, the benefit of the single-cartridge system is simple low-maintenance operation and a very low purchase price.

The DeskJet 3520 has a single USB port for connecting to your PC or Mac, and comes with handy photo and imaging software to help you create calendars, cards, and more. The printer comes with all the instructions you need, plus a one-year warranty on parts and labor backed by HP customer care.

What's in the Box

  • Get creative with photos, using HP Photo & Imaging software to print calendars, cards, and more.
  • Save space with the sleek design and 100-sheet paper tray that tucks away when not in use.
  • Monitor the ink level with the handy on-screen indicator.
  • Print laser-quality black text at up to 12 ppm with the HP 27 inkjet print cartridge (C8727AN, available separately).
  • Use with any compatible PC or Macintosh computer via the USB port

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy and convenient, November 1, 2003

Good enough for school homework and assignments, reasonable size and price and easy to use. The only problem I have is the price of the ink, quite expensive, (...). Over all, I'm happy and satisfied with this printer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Deskjet 3520 is a mistake..., August 6, 2004
This review is from: HP DeskJet 3520 Color Printer (Office Product)
The good news about the printer is that it is cheap and easy to setup. The disappointment starts from the time you try and print the first page. I would recommend it only:
(a) if you already own a USB cable (most likely with your USB cd/dvd-writer etc)
(b) if you print two/three pages a week
(c) do not care about printing in grayscale

My gripe list is:

1) Does not ship with USB cable
2) Does not ship with black ink cartridge (I may be asking for the world here)
3) Feeds multiple papers unless 15-20 pages are positioned in a specific way
4) *Biggest gripe *: If you need to print in grayscale, then you need to physically remove the color cartridge. It has no software enabled 'checkbox' option that lets you toggle between color and grayscale.

Oh, I forgot about a good feature: it has a rear access door that can be used to remove paper jams.

3.0 out of 5 stars ramware, October 1, 2003

I got this printer from WM. It was easy to setup and worked without any issues. But... it takes forever to print at 2400dpi setting. if you print at 600 X 600 photo then will take around 10 min for 8X10 photo. The ink which came with the printer will print only about 10 8X10 photos. But overall this is ok printer for the price.
