I don't think I have ever purchased a device as horrible as this one.

I got so mad with this flimsy plasticky cheaply made printer that I just tossed it in the trash, rather than go thru the hassle of returning it.

Also the ink cartridges do not last long in comparison to other printers.

I purchased this printer from thesource in Canada for ($20, yeah i know it's crazy but I guess it was my luck)and i absolutely love it. I first purchased Canon Mp280 which I returned since it stopped working after two days and I didn't like the print quality, so I purchased this printer which was on sale, I know canon makes good quality printers but I have to say HP is right up there with them. The print quality is excellent as well as the scan quality, just perfect.

Got it from Walmart.
Hate it. I have to buy ink every two weeks and I haven't even gotten through a pack of paper yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there a way for me to use up all the dang color ink before having to go purchase another cartridge of black ink??

Bought it on the cheap from walmart $39, seemed like a steal, but I was the one that got stolen from. It printed 4 pages very decent quality the day that I bought it, and seemed to do adequate scans and copies. However, about 3 weeks later when I tried to print a document the printer refused to sense that there was paper in the printer feed. I wasted 10 minutes trying to get it to accept the same paper that had been sitting in the tray when it had printed before, but no luck , just a flashing out of paper light. Then a few minutes later when I pressed the copy button it started flashing that it was out of ink, but the cartridges had only printed 4 pages. I got so mad with this flimsy plasticky cheaply made printer that I just tossed it in the trash, rather than go thru the hassle of returning it. My moms HP printer which had worked fairly reliably for 2 years of moderate home use, has also suddenly developed a problem with accepting paper. I think I have had enough of HP products for a while.

I needed a low cost all in 1 printer. I was skeptical of this model at first until i tried it for myself. I have to say that features for the price are good. The print quality is great, and it plain just works. I have always liked HP products though so i was willing to give them a chance even though the reviews were mixed.

I've had this printer for a little over a year. I also have the HP1000. As printers go, the 2050 works OK most of the time. Have fairly frequent issues with the printer refusing to feed paper. My big beef with Hewlett Packard is the cost of the ink supplies. The cartridges are expensive and they DO NOT LAST LONG AT ALL! Like Lexmark in the past, HP has gone the route of selling relatively cheap printers, then gouging consumers on the ink. The black cartridges are supposed to contain 3ml of ink, color 4ml. There is no way to determine how much ink these cartridges actually contain. For my money, I suspect they contain far less than the advertised amount. HP has made their printers so they virtually reject less expensive ("non-genuine" cartridges) and thus you're forced to use HP ink. I plan to use both of my HP printers for several more months until I can find a printer manufacturer that sells a half-way decent product with reasonable ink costs. Does such a company exist? Probably not in today's culture of unbridled American corporate greed.

I purchased this printer last summer as a portable solution. The price was right on the printer, but I should have immediately been suspicious. The software options do not allow me to select Draft quality (it's grayed out no matter what I do). This printer goes through VERY EXPENSIVE ink like water. I'm replacing the cartridges every 20-30 printed pages to the tune of $30 to replace both cartridges. I tried the XL version of the cartidges, which are supposed to last 3 times longer ($55 for both) and it went through the ink even faster!!! I think I printed 5 pages in color at the lowest quality the software would allow before the light came on again. The scan and copy functions work great, print quality is good, but the ink price is a show-stopper. As soon as I'm done with the current ink I have in reserve, I'm getting rid of the printer.

This printer was great at the time, and we needed something "right now". It was the only thing in our price range in the store we purchased it from at the time, so we went ahead and bought it. The scanner in it works great, I'll admit, I'm only giving it two stars because of that, otherwise I wouldn't give any. The scanner can handle any of my photography restoration projects, scanning documents with small fonts (and still be able to clearly read the scanned version), and for that alone it earns at least some positive reviews. As for the negatives... it is supposed to be primarily a printer, and it fails miserably. The ink runs out faster than any other printer I've ever used even when it's just typed documents (such as a release form, so it's pretty much only printing 1/2 a page worth). Half way through page 40 it began to run out of ink. That wouldn't be such an issue, but the ink is more expensive than some other brands (unless you can find a good deal or an off-brand that will actually work with it) and they are one-time ink cartridges, meaning you cant save money (and maybe be a little eco friendly) by refilling them. Also, over-all I have probably printed a total of 250 pages on this printer to date (I usually just go to a copy store to print things off to avoid the hassle anymore...) and although it has been well maintained and kept clean, it has started to double print, or print random blobs. The paper hardly ever jams, but sometimes it will try to reset itself while printing (usually when it's been printing double or blobs) and instead of it actually correcting, it shuts down and it's a pain in the a** to get the paper back out and start over.Read more ›
