HP Deskjet 460CB Mobile Printer with Battery Included

Driver loaded first time no problem, battery charged quickly, test print came out perfect, test printed a 8.5 x 11 photo, it took about a minute and came out great on the included standard ink. The printer weight is 5.4 lbs with the battery installed it's not light but it's not that bad either. I owned a Canon portable, it lasted 10 months and had to be replaced under warranty, I quickly sold the replacement, they are slow and noisy, they cost way more, the ink cartridges are very tiny and expensive, I had to refill my own to afford to use it, the HP cartridges hold twice as much ink and are cheaper. If you've got money to burn then get the Canon, if not this HP is a deal and you get a battery with it, what good is a mobile printer without a battery?

The printer is fast and printing is always properly aligned on the paper. Quality of printed text is as good as any decent desktop printer and that is why I bought it in the first place. I am yet to try printing photos. Because this is a mobile printer the manufacturer needs to ensure that the unit will stand up to the hits and accidents caused by regular transporting. It might mean providing a second skin or a padded bag with the unit

We've purchased 2 of these printers now for our sales staff. They are now able to create the reports they need for their clients without the trouble of returning to the office, printing and then returning the forms to the client. Saving time this way has become both an efficient use of their time as well as a way to impress on the client that their time is valuable, too.
Both loaded smoothly and have been very easy to use. Being able to connect with a 3' usb cable means no extra power cables and their time is spent with the client, instead of running cables to get started.
We have been very pleased with our purchase of these printers.

I travel quite a bit and needed a small printer to work with my Dell 700m laptop. I'm in the technical field service area. I was trying to choose between the Canon ip90 and the HP 460 but the Canon was out of stock so . . .
I have found the HP 460 to be a fine printer. Software installed w/o any incident on WinXP Pro, size is small enough to fit easily in the suitcase. It is quiet and fast. When not in use it folds up nicely for protection. I've got no issues with it and am pleased with it's performance. Someday I may try printing a photo but I purchased it for it's mobility.
I will be purchasing the battery and the 802.11g card for it in the next few weeks. That will provide some additional flexibility I occasionally need.
I see some negative comments on the install but I earn my living with my laptop and keep it fully operational. The install was flawless.

If you want a true mobile printer, the HP460 is the way to go, based on the current market. I did not see anything else that compared. I bought it to use to print forms and schedules for a boy scout troop while camping. I needed something to use with my laptop out in the woods with no AC power readily available. The battery held up very well. I had to go find a power source to charge my laptop, but the printer held up all week. I probably printed 40 or so pages on a charge without trouble. Print quality is as good as a standard desk jet. The paper feed and output doors close nicely into a protective shell. Weight and bulk are similar to a heavy laptop. It is about twice as thick as a laptop, and I had to shop around a bit to find a carrying case that would fit it. Beware of "printer cases", most of which are sized for the small photo printers and will not fit the HP460. I found a laptop case that worked.

This not something to buy to just sit on your desk. There are better and cheaper options for that. This is a specialized device for those that need a mobile document printer. That's what HP built it for, and it delivers on that intent. Be sure to get the one with the battery if you want true mobility. Check out the Wi-fi and Bluetooth versions too, if you need that added functionality.

We bought this printer for business travel with the use of our Dell laptop. The printer is lightweight and compact, and produces excellent quality black and white and color printed documents. The ink cartridges last a long time, are easy to install, and trouble free. The battery is a plus, and a charge lasts a long time as well. I would definitely purchase this particular outfit, as it comes with the lithium battery. Also, the functioning of the printer is very quiet, which is a plus when working with others in a group setting. I would highly recommend this product.

The price for this item was best at Amazon. I checked numerous sites and no one else was even close. Product was shipped in Quality packaging and delivered without damage, and was recieved before the expected delivery date. Now I look at Amazon first for any web purchases I make! John/Erie,PA

i have this printer for 6 months now without problem, though it already costed me a number of ink cardridges. i calculated it only makes about 50 print-outs per inkcardridge and i do not understand why it does so. website says it should print about 250- 450 for thr 9m, or 10ml ink cardridge.
and i use it in fastdraft format which should save ink, not waste it. HP tech support suggested the ink cardridge was faulty, but how many faulty ink cardridges?
i' m still trying to figure out what is wrong with it, or what i do wrong to make it waste the ink. with the cardridges i bought up to now, i could buy another cheaper printer and be also more economical.

I recently purchased this printer to use on domestic and international business trips. Unit has performed flawlessly, with excellent document resolution. Simple to use and travels well, even after I dropped the unit twice going through TSA check points. Only drawback is that it is a little bulky and I had to purchase a new computer bag to carry the printer and lap top on airlplane trips. Well worth the investment, no hesitation to purchase this product. Would also be great printer for students at home or in college.

I purchased the printer in October and have used it sporadically until now (early December). I have yet to replace the ink cartridges, which means it has easily printed a couple hundred pages. For a portable printer, it's hard to get better than this. The printer is reasonably fast, installation was a breeze, and aside from being a little bulky, it's the perfect road-warrior companion. The battery feature is fantastic and thus far hasn't presented any problems. I used the reviews by others on this product to make my decision and unlike those that rated the product low, I has zero problems with the driver installation (just popped in the CD and was ready in a few minutes) but remember to have or purchase a USB cord if you don't already have one. I also haven't changed the printer settings and haven't had any ink problems but haven't printed photos. My feeling is that if you want to print photos, you should get a photo printer. Finally, by a little bulky, I mean that it is a bit thick but it still fits in my briefbag with my laptop and all the cords but that's all that will fit in there.
