The day i was going to get this laptop amazon was out of stock (luckily). I reviewed the processor at a CPU review site and got an unpleasant surprise.

For those who are not familiar with amd processors, this e2-3000 is benched way under intel celerons, where Celerons get a passmark score of give or take 2000, this CPU gets a score of 1080, its comparable to intels core2duo. On the plus side it has an OK video card that picks up the slack

for the same price i would go to a core i3 that gets a score of over 3000 and additionally get a nice mouse

there's this one http://amzn.to/1iwMEoV with CPU have a score of 2300 (way much cheaper, nicer design)
this other one http://amzn.to/1jXG3n0 with CPU score of 3200 (Very nice laptop, i have this model)

I know benchmarks is not everything but i have to warn you, this is slower than the intel celeron.

I'm not making these numbers out i got them from cpu benchmark .net

It must have been a sentimental purchase. But put yourself in my shoes!

When my PC arrived 2.5 weeks ago it had two hardware/software problems: 1. The speaker volume was too low to hear streaming audio even when all the settings were at at max and had been double checked by my PC guy. 2. Every time I tried to connect to HP customer support, it locked up my internet connection, even though my table and smart TV were perfect a moment before, and were perfect again after resetting my interconnect connection after the laptop locked it.

HP customer service was able to steal more than 6 hours of my on line time and another 6 of my personal time because they were busy trying to prove these problems to everyone but their own product. (They removed my Quick books and Turbo Tax programs MID 2013 TAX PREP!!) after assuring me my stuff would be safe - and were surprised to learn that their instructions would have that effect!) At various points I was instructed to pay for support service, to go get a phillips head screwdriver (bu the he tech never followed through with any hands on hardware resets) , to return the product to Amazon for another HP2000, etc. etc. etc.

This morning they were supposed to call at 10AM with a last ditch effort to resolve the problems before giving up - and they didn't even call.

Amazon has been great - reassuring me that they would take it back even if it was a couple of days later than the return limit, but their system of returns will not let me return the HP and get another manufacturers PC (why would I ever want another HP?) I'll have to pay for an other one until the return is credited. Thank you HP for this learning experience! My large family wil not buy HP, and I would not wish this customer service experience on my worst enemy (well, now that I think about it.....)

I have this computer, but I only paid $279.99 at Office Depot for this exact machine. Granted I got it on sale, it normally sold for $399.99. So I am pretty impressed that I was able to procure this item for the price that I did. I have found that usually I can acquire things on Amazon for less money than I can elsewhere. It has lived up to my expectations, for what I needed. I actually am new to the internet I only broke down and came into the 21st century in December. I`m an old fart, and I`m kinda old school. But I have to admit I do like the convenience of finding things without leaving home. So if you are looking for a good starter computer, this would be a nice fit. If you`re a experienced computer user you probably want to spend more money & get more features & power. If this will just be a travel (airplane) companion to your desk top computer. I think this will handle anything you need to do while you are on the road.

This computer is pure garbage.

Too slow. This computer is for the person who has time on their hands.

It's a crasher. This computer must idolize the Titanic.

Ports have stopped working. No longer recognizes jump drives or a wireless mouse.

Battery fell out. My battery fell out of the PC, though it was supposed to be locked.

Did I mention HP was too cheap to install Office?
That's a hint of what's to come if you purchase this...HP went as cheap as possible, sacrificing all quality.

All this after only 5 months of owning this piece of junk.

This is a nice, light, laptop running Windows 8.1. There is no recovery DVD, so if you create a recovery drive you will need a thumb drive with 32G. The procedure is here:
[...]
Give the user interface a little time, the response is slow compared to Windows XP, but the procedure does work.

Great hardware. The software will take some getting used to because it looks like a tablet interface. So far I've been able to find everything I need.

I received this computer on 4/25/2014. On 4/26/14, I needed to contact Tech support because the computer kept "freezing". This happened multiple times. I was unable to continue on that screen, nor could I leave it. Tech support ran diagnostics of software. The problem was not resolved. After my 3rd or 4th sessions with tech support (without resolution, it was suggested that I run diagnostic test on the hardware. This was all in the first week. The problem continued. My frustration level was at limit. I returned this computer and will not consider a HP computer in the future.
