hp cradle for pocketpc,

Received hp cradle(to recharge & update pocketpc) on a timely basis. When tried to "sync" with desk top computer, encountered trouble. Seems that MS ActiveSync does not recognize the device!!! After googling my problem, was referred to other users, -was given several work arounds. Still can not get device recognized by software. Only the recharging function is working.
