Great Fax Machine,
This review is from: HP FAX 1250 Fax Machine (Black) (Office Product)
I have no idea for the negative reviews read here as I have nothing but good things to say about this fax machine. It faxes clearly, is a breeze to set up, and uses HP 27 cartridges for around 220 pages per cartidge. They can be easily purchased on line for about $11.00 each. You can easily fold two trays away when not sending faxes to conserve room. I purchased my machine at Office Depot, for $129.00, but I had a store credit there so I saved some additional money. I don't find it noisey, nor do I have any jam issues. The material used (plastic) might seem somewhat flimsy, but I don't stand on my machine. I'm very pleased. By the way, you don't need to replace the color cartridge if it goes empty, as long as you keep it in the machine. This way, you can just fax and save money with the black only cartridge.

!!!!!!DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!!!
I purchased my HP Fax 1250 a few weeks ago, and it is easily the worst fax machine I have ever had the misfortune of trying to use. I was sold on it because it was from HP and I figured they sold decent products. I was sadly mistaken about this one. It uses more paper and ink to print out worthless reports that don't even tell you what is going wrong so you can fix the problem than it does actually faxing. The keypad is maddeningly inept at its job, which is to enter numbers in. You have to double check every single digit that is entered because you may think you have entered the fax number in correctly, by making sure you mash on the button until your finger tip turns white, but it will still probably not register at least one of the numbers and then your fax will not go through, and until you go through and carefully inspect every aspect of the erroneous error report it gives you you will not be able to find out what is wrong until you double check the number that is in the middle of the page. !!!!!!DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!!!

Bought brand new, looked good, set up easy.....then, Dial tone button would not pop out, no dial tone. Ringer would not work. I can't believe HP would let this leave the factory with these defects!

recieved right away. opened package, all there and no damage. only minor issue during set up was it kept saying paper jam. finally resolved don'tnow why. Phone is a little small but ok. Miss the loud speaker on machine, this would have made it 5 stars. Faxes are nice and folds up compact, but you cannot dial in when compact. To expose this would have been a nice feature.

I purchased this item for an elderly friend who is not technically savvy. I wanted something that would be easy for her to use. The fact that she could use regular paper to make copies as oppose to the old thermo fax machine that she had, was a great bonus. Not only is the machine handsome, but it is easy to operate. She is quite happy with it, and so am I. I would highly recommend it because it is not cumbersome, and the cost of the ink is not more than the machine cost itself.

Worked great for two years,

I have no complaints at all except maybe durability. It's been a great machine for two years. Now it is starting to wear out--lots of paper jams. I've never had a fax last more than two years, so maybe that's par for the course. Don't know about these reports of lemons. I've had no problems till now.

Awful.,
This review is from: HP FAX 1250 Fax Machine (Black) (Office Product)
Output is poor. Ink usage is off the charts. We used 2 cartridges of ink a week in a low volume company.
I would NEVER buy this product again, nor would I ever recommend it.

We used to own the model right before the 1250. This is just the best designed machine. Easy to use, no frills, all there !

We've had this fax machine for a little over two months. We are replacing the ink cartridge almost every week. We do not receive enough faxes to warrant an ink cartridge a week (and we are only using the machine to send and receive faxes - with no confirmation pages being printed). We are a small non-profit agency and cannot afford that much ink. It was the price that attracted us to the machine, but we're paying for it big time now.

I have a hp1050 which is my third in two years. I was told by hp that the 1250 is better faster etc and the upgrade. After seeing 2 of these reviews I think I will search for a upgrade outside the hp family. My printers here are hp and I like them. But I don't need another series of hp problems and phone time.
