NOT an original HP Cartridge as stated and pictured--BAIT AND SWITCH,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HP LaserJet 03A Black Print Cartridge C3903A in Retail Packaging (Office Product)
Ordered cartridge and it came quickly, but product received is not what was described or pictured in ad. Just a Chinese refilled cartridge in generic packaging. Don't know the quality of it, cause I won't use it since it's not what I ordered. BLATANT BAIT AND SWITCH.

NOT New HP Brand Toner - FRAUD,
By
This review is from: HP LaserJet 03A Black Print Cartridge C3903A in Retail Packaging (Office Product)
I decided to make my order because the recents reviews said that the cartridges were HP Brand, and because of the Target name, and the picture of the HP Brand box in the advertisement, and repeated references in the description that this was a "high-quality Hewlett-Packard C3903A toner cartridge". But when the cartridges arrived (yes, like a fool I bought two), they are literally a NO NAME BRAND - there is no name of any company, any website, any address or phone number anywhere on the box! I don't dare put these things in my printer - I have not even opened the black bags. I am going to return them and demand a refund. THESE ARE NOT "Original HP LaserJet 03A Black Print Cartridge in Retail Packaging" - a complete FRAUD.
The order came, not from Target, but from "Power Imaging Supply" in El Monte, California, a toner cartridge recycler. Here's their annoying web site with text you can't copy & paste, unless you "view source": [...] If these are HP Toner cartridges they have refilled, they are still committing a fraud by not saying so in the Amazon product description. Any why be so shy about not putting their name on the box? I hope I get my refund. Meanwhile, for laser printer cartridges, I'm buying from local businesses from now on, if I can't trust Amazon to protect me from FRAUD.

Received a refilled cartridge in a generic box, not the "Original HP LaserJet Black Print Cartridge in Retail Packaging" as advertised. I guess the price was way too low to be HP original, but I assumed that anything advertised on Amazon would be legit. (HP does not sell refilled cartridges.)
I'm too lazy to ship it back, so I'll install it and start using it. Amazon should pressure the seller (Target, I believe) to be honest with it's product descriptions. Simply say, "Refilled Cartridge" and don't show HP's original box.

Target - Company Review,

This company completely misrepresented their product. This is not an 'Original JP LaserJet 03A Black Print Cartridge in Retail Pkg" as advertised. Its a 3rd-party copy made in China. What a waste of time ordering and waiting for a product that is needed. We will NEVER do business with this company again. Surely many other customers have experience similar circumstances with this company as we. Thanks for listening.

It's hard to write a meaningful review for an OEM printer cartridge, but I do want to share my experiences. I have an old but reliable LaserJet 6MP. I had a couple very old spare cartridges lying in my closet, but when I tried to use them, they leaked the ink powder and made a real mess. I guess all those years in the closet took their toll.
I was doubtful that a new cartridge would really solve my problem, but I took a chance. I'm glad I did, because the new cartridge works great. I had to vacuum and wipe out all the leaked powder, but my 6MP is now working as well as the day I first bought it. So my advice is: 1) Buy this OEM cartridge, not some third-party cheapo one. Unless you print hundreds of pages a month, this cartridge should last at least a year. That's pretty good for $75. 2) If your cartridge leaks, don't use it. Don't even try. 3) Don't buy these cartridges in advance. There's no point in having one "waiting in the wings", and you might not be able to take advantage of the warranty if it's defective. You'll know when the cartridge starts to run out of ink, and even with free shipping, Amazon will deliver it to you within a week.

Ordered this product on 04-11-10. Received it on 10-05-10. Nearly 6 months later! Ad shows the HP box and indicates that product is the "Original HP LaserJet" cartridge. When box arrived it was found to contain knockoff Chinese rebuilt laser toner cartridges. Called Amazon for return authorization. Agent immediately credited my charge card but only for the cost of the items. She said that was the only amount showing. I have record of $30 for shipping & handling charges on my original order paperwork.
Agent is forwarding return address label for purchase. It will be interesting to see if I get nicked for $30 shipping charges for a bait and switch order.

Have been using this cartridge on an old laser printer in my home office for about 10 years now and I have no complaints.
It usually lasts me about one year+ so the cost is reasonable though not the best value out there

I ordered two of these cartridges and both were unusable. The picture indicates an HP cartridge, but I received two off brand, refilled cartridges. The first was not usuable because I could not get the ribbon removed. Kept pulling until the plastic finall broke. The second put toner on the paper, front and back,, enough to make the printing almost unreadable. I then ordered an HP cartridge, and it works great. Get what you pay for.

"SHORTED OUT" in my Laserjet Printer!,

When the SuperDeal shipment arrived the box was 30% crushed from inadaquate bubble wrap packaging inside. The inner box of toner had been crushed on one corner but appeared generally intact. However it was of an older vintage HP Packaging and not the HP box currenly pictured on SuperDeal's Amazon page.
I installed the cartridge and it worked in my 5P printer. BUT WAIT! ...over the next few weeks it printed fine for an overall total of no more than 6-8 pages. Then, perhaps six weeks after being installed, the printer sounded a loud "electrical shorting like sound" and printed a SOLID BLACK page! This happened sequentially 4 times as I attempted to trouble shoot the problem. Then I headed out to a local office supply store and purchased a C3903A HP Print Cartridge for $25 more than I paid SuperDeal for its product. The new cartridge restored my Laserjet 5P to its original quality operation and I breathed a sigh of relief that the printer was not damaged by the SuperDeal HP Cartridge. Then, I proceeded to write an "update" to my original product feedback (see below the Original) which Amazon apparently decided not to post as I cannot find that revision. So here I am making another try: I contacted SuperDeal by email and shared my experience with what they had sent me. I asked for either a replacement cartridge or a refund. The next day I had SuperDeal's response appologizing for the Cartridge failure and promising to send a replacement cartridge immediately. 10 days later the cartidge arrived. It was Well packed this time; it had a "current" HP Retail Packaging this time; it had no box stains this time. So BE CAREFUL! This vendor seems to have both old HP cartridges (out of date?)and "current" HP Retail product. What you end up getting appears to be the luck of the draw; or perhaps you get new product when the original blows up in your printer! Lesson Learned on this end. Posted 12/1/2010 Original Review: Heads up! Yet again I have foolishly ordered an item from Amazon which they show as "In Stock" but really do not have. After placing the order and a few days interval, I get an email from Amazon saying it has shipped. Then the same day I get and email from Amazon CONFIRMING A FULL CREDIT REFUND to my credit card. The "EXPLANATION FIELD reads "Order Cancelled" That's a fact, NOT an explanation! I then send an email (via Amazon) to their vendor, Quantum Electronics, asking for a "real explanation". I must say: Good for Quantum Electronics! They responded the next day saying that the cancellation was Amazon's doing because "the product you ordered was oversold by Amazon". Now that's an explanation, of sorts. To Quote Amazon: "We're Building Earth's Most Customer-Centric Company" Hubris. (Try and find the link to email customer service on the Amazon site. There is one, but Good Luck finding it! I get especially irked when Amazon shows products "In Stock" and that statement proves NOT TRUE! :-( ***End of Rant*** Now, all that said: I remain an Amazon customer since I highly value THE SERVICE THEY PROVIDE VIA the "Customer Reviews" on products which reviews can also extend Amazon's "service", or lack of service, such as in this review here. Most of the time Amazon DOES DELIVER as promised and often at competitive price for the product ordered. Keep on "Building", Amazon, you've got a way to go, but I'm rooting for you! :-)

I bought my HP 5P October 1995 and have only changed the cartridge once. The print test page shows 7,000 pages. Can't beat the price per page -- so far 2 cents per page.I suggest using economode to extend the life -- exspecially graphics intense prints which are just used for archiving. |
