1.0 out of 5 stars Unfortunate - Worst HP product ever used., March 15, 2010
This review is from: HP LaserJet M1522n Monochrome Multifunction Laser Printer, Refurbished (Electronics)
Software is terrible - scan to PC never worked. Formatter board went out twice. Found out from local HP tech that they had a recall. HP Tech Support told me the problem was due to printer plugged into surge protector. Terrible, terrible customer/tech support. Cannot fax from PC. Must fax from flatbed. Very cheap plastic parts that break easily. HP is, so far, refusing to refund my money due to purchase being more than 21 days ago (from HP online store).

This is very unfortunate. I spec'ed and evaluated HP printers for many years while working in IT for a global company. How far this company has fallen. While I don't expect this to be a workhorse printer given the price and category, I would expect it to work for more than several months and work as advertised. Just purchased a Brother 8890 from Newegg. Hoping this works better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical printer, September 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HP LaserJet M1522n Monochrome Multifunction Laser Printer, Refurbished (Electronics)
I got the expected high quality. With the twilight of faxes due to email, not having a virtually unnecessary fax feature in order to have a copier feature is a welcome change and a means to save a few bucks. This was a good idea and a good adaptation of a good product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Died quickly from bad formatter board, August 3, 2010

I bought one used, and it lasted for about three days before dying of a bad formatter board; HP tech support essentially said, "hmmmm . . . yeah, that's a bummer, but if you're not the original purchaser we can't help you at all." My next printer will be a non-HP product, I think . . .

update two days later: the HP drivers also repeatedly crash when uninstalling, so evidently I'll be permanently stuck with the drivers on my computer to remind me what a PoS this printer was. HP was previously a great company, but every step of my interaction with this product (and their customer support in connection with trying to fix it and/or dispose of it) reeks of systematic incompetency. I bought a Canon to replace it that has been ridiculously awesome; I think I'm burned on HP products for at least the next few years.
