For what it is, the HP 5102 is a fantastic travel friendly computer. It does not stream video well, its not going to be fast with any complex applications, but it has a fantastic keyboard, netbook or otherwise, best in class build quality (metal composite NOT plastic) a nice bright screen, and good speakers. Great for web browsing and typing/word processing. It has USB connectivity as well as an SD multi slot.

Fantastic, light, well built, and simply an efficient little machine.

(something to note is that this particular model from amazon comes with the smaller battery and battery life is considerably shorter than some other netbooks in this class. You can upgrade and buy the high capacity battery separately from HP)

I have used this netbook for 3 years.

So what is good about it?

1. Excellent built quality...durable and looks very nice
2. Battery life with the 66kw battery is about 8 to 9 hours
3. If it gets broken like mine did. You can easily buy parts at the hp website. I am not good at repairing stuff but there is an excellent manual and I have replaced teh keyboard an topcover with ease. Yes its a new concept repairing your computer but I feel this one will last another couple of years. Oh it did broke because it got water over it. The keyboard is spill proof...but too much is never good ;-)
4. Screen is matte and looks ok

Okay what is not so good?

1. A bit heavy 1,4 kg (with the 66kw battery)
2. Track pad is good but an the small side. No multi-touch though.
3. its a netbook meaning it has an atom cpu inside. You can watch movies up to 720 p which is more than enough because the reolution is 1024 x 600. Multi tasking makes it slow..flash is okay but smooth up tp 480 p
4. Resolution is not very high...but for a 10 inch screen this is in my eyes an advantage because otherwise everything is small. Never experienced difficulties watching webpages (I use chrome)

All in all..for a netbook ....the best choice !

I am a computer tech in Canada. I got one of these in to repair the LCD. I'm very frustrated with how difficult it is to repair, and HP quoted over $400 to send it to them.

I can do the repair, but it is going to cost the client twice what it costs to repair a standard netbook LCD.

This is primarily because of the glued on cover over the LCD. Yes it looks nice.
But it is very difficult to repair.

Far nicer models are available from Toshiba and Asus in this price range. I would definitely not recommend this netbook.

Just my two cents.
