They might cost a bit more but they definitely are worth it. The regular size ink tanks last for 6 pieces of paper and are empty. The High capacity really do last long. I kinda feel that HP purposely does this so your forced to pay more for the high cartridge but I think that's the trade off when you can get a printer that is less than $100. Now that i think of it it might be cheaper to keep buying new printers because you get all new ink and if you had to purchase them separately it would cost more...lol

The ad lists the part number as CB321WN which is good for 800 copies. The actual part I received is CN684WA good for only 550 copies. I paid a few dollars extra expecting to get the larger capacity. The ad is misleading.

Not any better than a regular cartridge, but more expensive. Printer showed 80% ink remaining, but it would not print other than streaks. Put in a new cartridge and everything was fine.

I just bought this. I'm going to have to buy another one. The ink print quality is terrible. I did all the usual print head cleanings and tried to trouble shoot but I've printed maybe 15 pages since I installed it and they all look like "draft" quality printings in spite of the fact I've chosen to print under "best" to see if I could get it to print well enough to be read. Not happy. I am not a newbie in any way and I know how to troubleshoot my computers, modems, routers, and printers. The cartridge is just bad.

These cartridges never seem to last as long as you think they should. There must be three or four different versions of the black ink cartridge. I think the one I received is the "mid-level" capacity (500 sheets). Printing only text on 8.5x11 paper, 80 sheets into the cartridge and I'm getting ink level warnings. I'd probably try a different product next time, or stick with the smaller less expensive cartridge since I don't seem to be getting any better life out of the larger more expensive one.

I am really happy with the HP Photostat Printer, witch uses the 564 ink cartridges. Excellent quality ink,in black and in color. The 564XL series allows me to go long way and is priced reasonably for the amount of copies and the Professional look that is produced. When printing photos is when the ink quality is impressive. The pictures done on Photo paperlook just as good as any that I got back from the druge store from film! Thanks HP (and Amazon) for making my life easier!

I have given up on HP ink cartages because they do not last, dry out, clog up and cost too much. The are nothing but a head ache.
To make matters worse, the ink nozzles apparently clog (usually after you just bought new ink cartridges) and you find it is cheaper to buy a new printer than repair the nozzles. HP is out of control. I have switched to Cannon laser printers and I'm very happy. No more ink and printer problems like I had for years.
