Fast,
This review is from: HP P3005X LaserJet Printer (Office Product)
We upgraded our office printer, which is used by 10 workstations, from an hp laserjet 2200dtn to this p3005x. It was a huge improvement. It is very fast, prints very sharp and holds a lot of paper.
We are very pleased with its perfomance and I couldn't find a better price than amazon's. So far so good.

Bad Formatter Board; Not A Reliable Printer,
By Rosedale Redneck (Rosedale BC Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HP P3005X LaserJet Printer (Office Product)
I have been extremely pleased with HP printers for as long as I've been computing (almost 25 years!), however I bought an HP Laserjet P3005x in late 2007 and have had no end of problems, the most significant being the faulty formatter board, which is the brain of the printer. I have learned that this part is defective in a large number of these particular printers, and that there is an HP service note on units within a certain serial number range. My printer of course is just outside the service note range and is out of warranty, so I am S.O.L. with a dead printer barely over a year old. My old HP Laserjet 4L worked for almost 10 years without a single problem. Needless to say, this has been one very disappointing printer, and the fact that a crucial component within the printer was defective right from the start (and many, many other units contain the same defective part!) is even more disappointing. Please be cautioned that the Laserjet P3005 series printers are repair magnets; if you are considering buying one I recommend that you try to find out the serial number of the printer you intend to purchase, and do some research with respect to the service history of that serial number series.

Great high speed, network ready printer,

This printer was purchased for use in a registrar's and student accounts office. The foot print is small, multiple trays provide flexibility, speed is good for an office setting, toner seems to last longer that many, and set-up was easy. This is a great small, B&W office printer and the price is reasonable. No complaints or problems to date.

This is the best priced two-tray networked printer on the market. This works very well for us and the seller got it to us in good time. I would recommend the seller and will shop there again for future needs.

Hardware failure,

I purchased the P3005X as a replacement for an HP4050, (have three of them in our offices, they are great printers). Right after this printer initialized, I began receiving various error messages (mainly 49.4C02 - printer error). Then a memory test failure, ("replace DIMM 01"). Went online with HP support, did various trouble-shooting (including re-seating the DIMM). Long story short: hardware failure. HP will replace this brand new printer with a refurbished printer, as long as I pay $69 for their Express Exchange service. Or, I can pack this printer back up and ship it to them so they can repair it and ship it back to me in 7-14 business days (I have to pay the shipping costs to HP). Either way, it's a hassle, I will definitely not buy another P3005 series printer.
