After looking around, I decided that this computer offered a lot of bang for my buck. Shipping was very quick and communication was excellent from the Amazon supplier. The computer arrived unscathed via UPS.

It offers a lot of features that I wanted, e.g. fast processor, large hard drive, built in camera. It also has finger print ID--a feature I wasn't convinced I needed. It is an interesting accessory, however, providing quick start up.

After having the computer about a month, I'd say it fits my needs well. The only downside is a HUGE battery. I was not expecting something this large. When installed, it creates a large "bump" on the bottom of the computer. I hope it redeems itself in long, unconnected operating times. It does significantly add to the weight of the computer.

UPDATE: I had an issue with the battery and a pop up error message. The computer would not function using the battery and I had a message that there was low disk space on the D portion of the harddrive. After several hours with HP technician--4 of them--they agreed to having me send it back for repair. I just got it back--quick turn around time--but ABSOLUTELY DEPLORABLE service. The computer was returned with a form saying that HP did not service this computer!!! I should have bought the Mac!! This is the last HP product I'll buy!!

I bought this for my stepdaughter for a HS graduation present and she LOVES it. It's versitile, easy to use, and has everything that a young student needs to get started in college.

This is probally one of the things HP adopted from their new "Compaq" partners who make the worst computers known to mankind and suffer from random computer strokes or other computer death releated problems. The ACER Extensa laptop is flawless and the same price as this machine except in the ACER for this price you get 4gb ram, 350 gb HD and an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. We have traded this bugged laptop in for another ACER EXtensa. So much happier.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk, October 20, 2010
This review is from: HP Pavilion DV6910US 15.4-inch Laptop (2.00 GHz AMD Turion X2 TL 60 Dual Core Mobile Processor, 3 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium) (Personal Computers)
Don't waste your money. I bought the 2008 version of this laptop and barely got 2 years out of it. It now won't boot up, it acts like it's going to come on for 1/2 a second, dies, and then starts the cycle again 5 seconds later. Started having problems about 3 mos prior. Researched the issue and learned that the Pavilion is notorious for motherboard problems. There should be a class action lawsuit to make HP stand behind their product instead of knowingly putting defective machines into the marketplace. Never HP again.

1.0 out of 5 stars HP Pavilion Notebook Computer DV6910US, December 27, 2011
This review is from: HP Pavilion DV6910US 15.4-inch Laptop (2.00 GHz AMD Turion X2 TL 60 Dual Core Mobile Processor, 3 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium) (Personal Computers)
I got this notebook computer in july 2008. Now it's dead. It turns on and off for 2 seconds again and again with blank monitor. I press alt+ctrl+del then it keeps running with blank monitor. I was mad that the Recovery disks didn't help at all. I also have HP Pavilion dv7-1232nr notebook for 2 years so far and I had to disconnect the power to once a while to get out the "frozen screen" during system boot up. Now I understand why HP tried to spin off its PC business without any success. Does anyone who have any ideas how to solve this on and off power with blank screen? Please post your advice. Thx a lot.

1.0 out of 5 stars Downright horrendous from HP, April 16, 2011
This review is from: HP Pavilion DV6910US 15.4-inch Laptop (2.00 GHz AMD Turion X2 TL 60 Dual Core Mobile Processor, 3 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium) (Personal Computers)
I had this product for a little over 2 years now.
1st year within warranty it had power issues, luckily since it was within warranty, hp fixed the problem and returned it.
The battery which came with the pack was worthless and would last about 1 hour or so on minimal - moderate use.
Since then on and off I had noticed the Fan being extremely active, and the laptop becoming hot when placed on my bed (which happens to cover the vents somewhat)..
Last week it died, and since then when I power it on, it keeps coming on and off without any display at all.
WHen I browsed the internet there were a lot of companions for my misery...
Seems like the motherboard and the cooling elements do not match and that this is the worst combination that HP could put out there... And HP will not fix the product though it is a known problem.
So, if you're thinking of buying this now, 1)it's outdated... and 2)it's buggy.. Save some money and buy a more worthwhile brand / product.

3.0 out of 5 stars HP, August 20, 2009
This review is from: HP Pavilion DV6910US 15.4-inch Laptop (2.00 GHz AMD Turion X2 TL 60 Dual Core Mobile Processor, 3 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium) (Personal Computers)
This laptop from HP Pavillion serves all my basic needs. The widescreen display is particularly handy when watching DVDs. Applications run faster than in some of the other models I've used, due to the processor, and I haven't come across many issues with the product in general. However, I do have a few complaints about this laptop. As any electronic will, using it for several hours causes the machine to get rather hot. However, with the vents wrapped around the back and bottom of the laptop, it tends to overheat and requires a fan. Though with the position of the air vents, there is no fan on the market that it sits on properly. The battery is chunky and gives a bit of a tilt to the machine if you lie it flat. Also, the DVD burner somehow managed to unistall within the first two weeks and I had to manually go in and reinstall the drivers. Other than these few complaints, however, I think it's a pretty good laptop.

2.0 out of 5 stars HP is not want it used to be, February 27, 2009
This review is from: HP Pavilion DV6910US 15.4-inch Laptop (2.00 GHz AMD Turion X2 TL 60 Dual Core Mobile Processor, 3 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium) (Personal Computers)
I previously was loved all HP products. I owned my previous HP Pavillion Laptop for over six years and it did not have any major issues. So I bought another HP as my new laptop. This one is pure disappointment. It started to work slow within few weeks. It does not matter what we do we cannot improve its performance. After a month or so computer started to crash to the point that nothing could turn it on then randomly start working as if nothing happened. Finnaly, six months into use it crashed again and I was not able to restart it. After hours with HP help from India, whom it is very hard to understand. It took so much time for me to spell all my information out. He kept on asking the same questiosn over and over. With techichian's help, I was able to start my computer but after all the setting that he suggested my computer crashes every time I close the screen. I am dreading calling India again.... This computer cannot support any graphic games. My husband tried downloading GTA and there is no way you can play it on this computer.
HP is not what it used to be... look for quality somewhere else. In addition, check if the company uses Indian workers as customer service and avoid them you will save yourself hours.
For me it is time to look for different company for my electronic products.
