5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Price, February 8, 2006
This review is from: HP Pavilion LC2600N 26" LCD Widescreen HDTV Monitor (Electronics)
So far, I really like the HP Pavilion LC2600N. It was very easy to setup right out of the box. It would be helpful, however, if you had one other person to help you move it to it's "final resting place" because it is bulky and a little heavy. Some of the hookups were a little confusing; but if you stick to the manual, it should be no problem. I used the HP to replace an old 27 inch TV, and am really glad I did. The HP picture seems much bigger than the old TV set, even though it is 26 inches, and, of course, is much sharper/brighter. The speakers are great and provide virtual surround sound. DVDs look amazing onscreen. I do not have an HDTV cable or satellite connection yet; however, with the dual tuners (both NTSC and ATSC) the HP does a great job with analog signals. Yes, it is not 42+ inches, but for my bedroom, it works great! I was amazed to find an HDTV set (with dual tuners) and other features so inexpensive. The look is very sleek, with a piano-black frame and a sturdy silver base. It may not be a good set for a large home-theater-type room, but it is great for small-to-medium spaces. I ordered mine through J&R's (as shown on the Amazon.com availability line) and got a great deal and great service. You won't find a better price on a comparable HDTV set with dual tuners (at least as of Jan. 2006). This is a true HDTV with a built-in HD tuner (integrated HDTV with an ATSC tuner AND an old-style NTSC tuner to handle the old signals). You will not have to buy an HDTV tuner box for this TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buying a Sharp Aquos? Try the HP!, February 10, 2006
This review is from: HP Pavilion LC2600N 26" LCD Widescreen HDTV Monitor (Electronics)
HP uses Sharp's LCD panel and electronics. When I connect my Apple PowerBook to the DVI-I connector, the Mac reports that it's a Sharp LCD monitor. Very good color and HDTV detail. The best part of this TV is it has the best connectivity of all LCD TVs - Bar None! You have 2xComponent, S-Video, Composite, RF, 2xFireWire (iLink) that can connect up to the max number of FireWire devices (63) with on screen and remote control of the FireWire device through the TV! You also get DVI-I for very nice computer connections.

The ATSC tuner rocks. It has signal strength meter. Removing channels from memory (such as 7.2 or 54.3) that you're not watching each day can be hard to find (read the manual), but it works fine.

I'm now going to get the 37" for the Great Room and move the 26" to my bedroom.

thanks...Lee

DVD's and games, particularly games played on the Xbox360, have never looked so good. For the price, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal for a TV this size. Lots of connections are a great convenience, and the sleek look of this unit is a big plus. Also, the removeable speakers sound great. If you're looking for something under 30 inches with a sharp picture, this is what you want. Also, I paid for standard shipping, and got it two days FASTER than advertised. Always a plus!
