Nicely Done HP!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: HP Pavilion Media Center TV m7680n Desktop PC (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400, 2 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, LightScribe DVD SuperMulti Drive) (Personal Computers)
I recently purchased the HP m7674n Media Center PC, which is essentially the same product as the m7680n. The difference between the two is the m7680n has 100 GB more of hard drive space and an additional DVD Recorder Drive. The computer is very fast and can handle multiple applications being open at the same time. For instance I can record a TV show, watch a video, rip a DVD, surf the internet and do a virus scan all at the same time! The TV Tuner is very useful as you don't have to worry about having to have an available tape of DVD to record a TV show. The Media Center provides you with many of the core features that Tivo provides at No Cost, whereas Tivo charges a monthly or lifetime fee. Ontop of that there is a built-in FM tuner which allows you to listen to the radio while using your computer. The built-in memory card reader allows me to transfer these media files from my computer onto my PSP's Memory Stick. There is also an S-Video jack which enables you to connect your computer to your television to watch your recorded TV shows on your television or simply surf the internet on the big screen. Lastly, I use the built-in HP Personal Media Drive Bay quite frequently. The Personal Media Drive (which is sold seperately) allows me to transport large files such as videos to multiple computers that wouldn't normally fit on a DVD or CD. Overall I think the computer is worth every penny.

I bought mine when it first came out in 2006, it is now September of 2011 and I am finally forced to get some more ram for it, it has been well worth the money paid and after 5 years the cd/dvd burner is still functioning like new, although slow. I have a new Dell at work and love it but cannot discount the HP which still kicks butt even tho it is old by todays standards. I have to agree tho that the people at HP customer service are useless (Dell is only a hair better), so make friends with a knowledgable IT guy is my advice!

HP support should be called non-support. I have bought a lot of HP products in the past but have always been lucky enough to have them all hold up through the warranty period until now. Bought a Pavilion Media Center PC with lightscribe and less than 5 months later the lightscribe dvd died. Do the get me a replacement or just a run around? You got it....the run around. I will never and I advise everyone else not to buy from HP until they can prove to stand by their warranties.
