Outstanding Quality
This is a gaming notebook PC. Its great for computer games and more... The picture clarity is excellent. I currently have a hp dv8000 with XP and this one with the Vista. There are some benefits and very minor drawbacks to each. This one is better in the area of the picture quality/the moniter/technological arena/ and the system is a little different. This one...

Nice on the Inside
This is a fast notebook with a lot of powerful multimedia capabilities, I bought mine about 1.5 years ago and loved it, but over the years (year), it has not held up. Most of the keys are now blank (I've never worn the keys off of anything, mind you, just this one), and the shiny finish is terribly delicate and gets scratched up if you just glance at it sharply...

Nice on the Inside, August 8, 2008
This review is from: HP Pavilion dv9060us 17" Widescreen Entertainment Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5500, 2.0 GB RAM, 240 GB Hard Drive, HD DVD-ROM) (Personal Computers)
This is a fast notebook with a lot of powerful multimedia capabilities, I bought mine about 1.5 years ago and loved it, but over the years (year), it has not held up. Most of the keys are now blank (I've never worn the keys off of anything, mind you, just this one), and the shiny finish is terribly delicate and gets scratched up if you just glance at it sharply. But those are the minor things. The major thing, and the reason I'm recommending yo DO NOT buy this computer, is the hinge on the left hand side. Just google "Notebook Hinge Crack" or "Hingefix" along with DV9000 and you will discover that there are several whole websites devoted solely to the horribly flawed hinge construction. And they're busy little websites -- this isn't an occasional problem, it's a basic feature of the way this computer is made, that the hinge suffers from an unfortunate tendency to fall apart catastrophically under normal use. My hinge died quite suddenly about a month ago, not from any rough handling or dropping, just because the design and materials are crap. I have to open and close it very, very slowly and carefully while holding the left side of the screen together, which is even more awkward than it sounds. Apparently if you are firm with them, HP will fix the hinge at no charge, but you have to send it off for a week. There are instructions on how to fix it yourself on those DV9000 Hinge websites, but it's not a DIY project for the faint of heart. So unless you plan to place your laptop gently on a desk, use gloves to touch it, and refrain from opening and closing it, you'd be better off buying something that is nice and sturdy inside *and* out.

This one has a webcam built in and has all the regular stuff such as DVD, remote control, everything else the old model had. The moniter is also thinner. Mine came with Vista and its a little harder to get used to but it is improved in some areas over the XP. 'Virtual Reality Delivered' GeForce Go Graphics, dedicated video memory deliver advanced 3D Graphics for ultra-realistic gaming and video effects. 17 Inch High Definition Brightview Widescreen display HDMI port, high definition output to your flat screen TV. This is a great laptop and has a lot of different features you would love.

I expected a little more performance for a top of the line Hewlett-Packark Laptop. Over all even with 2 gigabyt's of memeory the laptop is sluggish and hanges up. Guess I will have to wait to see if the VISTA upgrade helps. It came with an HD DVD movie however it was not for playing on a US region DVD player. It was for France, I called Amazon, they wanted me to return the entire laptop, wish I had now. They credited my account $10.00 finallt for a $25.00 HD DVD. I will not purchase any tech items from Amazon again

Wonderful Laptop!!!, January 26, 2007
This review is from: HP Pavilion dv9060us 17" Widescreen Entertainment Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5500, 2.0 GB RAM, 240 GB Hard Drive, HD DVD-ROM) (Personal Computers)
I bought this laptop shortly after it came out and I just love it!! It is superfast and has so many options that I am still exploring it's capabilities. The HD movie that they include does not do anything past the menu...doesn't play. However the laptop is amazing and is fully upgradable even though it already has impressive stats, far outdoing most all of the other units on the market.

Good, but not spectacular, May 25, 2007
This review is from: HP Pavilion dv9060us 17" Widescreen Entertainment Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5500, 2.0 GB RAM, 240 GB Hard Drive, HD DVD-ROM) (Personal Computers)
it get's a little bit slow once you open a couple applications, thing you would not expect given the technical data of this laptop. I also prefer that a laptop has the connections (USB, headphones, etc.) on its backside, so you don't have to look at all the cables sticking out of your machine, even from the front. The remote control, once you enter it in the slot, there is no way to get it out again without some "kitchen tool", at least I could not find any mechanism. These are the only defects I could find about this laptop, besides that, it's awesome.
