5.0 out of 5 stars HP Pavilion dv8 Laptop
Great laptop. I am not a computer geek, just a home user, and I love this laptop. It is fast, the built in webcam is awesome, and the keyboard is slick. Blu-ray and dvd capable, with wireless and bluetooth as well. I did have to call HP to update the bios, and they were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this laptop to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Major hardware problems - no fix
I purchased the HP Pavilion DV8 about 6 months ago for over 2 grand. I was very excited when I received it and it worked great for about 3 months. Then the touch pad sensor on the keyboard for bass/treble, wireless on/off and other controls just went haywire. There is an entire thread on the HP support forum with dozens of people with the same issue. HP has NO FIX...

HP has NO FIX. I've called in and the fix the offer lasts about 7 days, then the problems come back. It is a major design flaw. The wireless turns on and off, so in the middle of browsing or doing anything online, your connection is interupted constantly. Even during writing this review, my connection has turned off for no reason!!! They want me to send in the computer but I use this for business and cannot be without it for 2-3 weeks so sending it in is not an option. HOwever, if you read the thread on their support forum you will find that others who have sent it in, got it back and the issue was NOT fixed.

DO NOT BUY this computer. I will never ever again buy an HP. This item should have been recalled.
