Poor heat design,

I own a HP5250.
Good side, it is a tough little notebook, no problems with screen or weight. Poor - This is a long term hunk of junk. The computer heats up and the DVD drive stops working. I explain, the hot part of the computer is the CPU, the processor, in this brand/model, has it in a seperate area for cooling (good idea). The next two hot spots in a notebook/laptop are the CD/DVD drive and the Mem area. These two are on top of each other!! If you use it in Canada, Iceland or Alaska, maybe not a problem. My computer will no longer survive playing a game CD or DVD. If I am working off a data CD, then I better get it off in the first 5 min before it crashes! I was ripped off, I hope you don't get ripped.

Be careful before you buy a HP product. If you have a problem, be sure that it will not be solved by HP.Below is the letter which I sent to HP.Dear notebook specialist, I bought this product via internet on February 2003 for my sister.In August 2003, when my sister ran the notebook for the first time, she saw that the battery was not working. The notebook is at another country right now. I have been calling your technical service about one and a half month. On my first call, the employee decided that there was a problem with the battery and told us he would send a new battery to us.I called the technical service for nine or ten times. Everytime, I told my case number and an employee told me that he would take care of it and you must receive it in 3-5 business days. For one and a half month, I only received a power cable which I could not understand the reason that you sent.It is extremely hard to reach you by your technical phone line and almost every night I have been on phone at least for 1 hour.I have decided that there is no good to call you by using your technical phone line again.Briefly, I want to understand whether you will send me a new battery or not. If this problem does not resolve immediately, I am sorry to warn you that I will make an application to the consumer rights. If a satisfactory solution can not be found, I will send this issue as a complaint about your product to the all PC selling web sites. Best regards METE KILCILER 1395 CLEVELAND HEIGHTS BLVD .
