Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The HP Pavilion ze5570us Notebook PC may not be the fastest or most capable portable computer on the market, but it isn't far off. Best of all, it's priced much lower than many state-of-the-art machines that offer more power or amenities than most notebook users would ever need. A very strong midlevel mobile that works well in virtually any professional or personal environment and offers wireless connectivity to boot, the Pavilion ze5570us is a smart invesent for those who can't quite afford top-of-the-line.

At 12.96 by 10.72 by 1.79 inches and 7.5 pounds, the unit is of average size. Inside, HP has installed a snappy 2.66 GHz Pentium 4 processor, 512 MB of 266 MHz DDR SDRAM memory, and an ATI Mobility Radeon graphics chipset with 64 MB of shared (not dedicated) memory. In this stock configuration, the Pavilion ze5570us delivers more than enough power for most any task or multitask aside from high-end 3-D games animation. Hardcore gamers with a few dollars to spend would be wise to check out other HP notebooks, such as the exceptional HP Pavilion zd7030us Media Center Notebook PC.

Sporting a large 60 GB hard disk, the Pavilion ze5570us offers plenty of room for a standard complement of mobile apps and a respectable library of multimedia files. Its optical drive delivers CD playing and burning and DVD playing, but no DVD recording. The system's crisp 15-inch XGA TFT display supports images of 1024x768 resolution, and its 16-bit Sound Blaster Pro-compatible audio chipset and integrated Altec Lansing-designed speakers deliver accurate, full-bodied sound.

Controlling the Pavilion ze5570us is a snap. The unit features a full-size 88-key keyboard with Touch Pad dedicated vertical scroll up/down pad. Other amenities include a trio of high-speed USB 2.0 ports for plug and play peripherals, an IEEE 1394 FireWire port for fast interaction with external devices such as digital camcorders, and an S-Video TV-out. Communication facilities are excellent, ranging from an integrated 802.11b wireless LAN interface to an RJ-45 Ethernet connection for fast wired LAN/Internet access and a 56K dial-up modem.

The bundled software package features Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Corel Productivity Pack including WordPerfect 10 and Quattro Pro 10, Quicken New User Edition, and HP's versatile PhotoSuite Toolkit.

2.0 out of 5 stars very loud and heavy, December 13, 2006
This review is from: HP Pavilion ze5570us Laptop (2.66-GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive) (Personal Computers)
I've had this laptop for about 3 years. It hasn't been dropped at all. I thought it was pretty good at first, but I've been having problems with it for the past year. First off this is a heavy laptop compared to those they have out now. It is quite bulky. It won't even close anymore (the closing latch broke while it was in my laptop case). The left click button for the mouse pad broke (whenever I click on it, it would get stuck and cause it to double click or not click at all). The most annoying thing about it is how loud it is! I took it to lectures sometimes but it got so embarrassing since all I can hear is the loud humming from the fan. Those sitting next to me have even commented on it. Don't even think about getting this model!

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best one I ever had. . ., August 4, 2006
This review is from: HP Pavilion ze5570us Laptop (2.66-GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive) (Personal Computers)
I've had this for about three years now, and I can tell you: it's good.

Pros: fast, good memory, cd burner included (i'm not sure about the DVD actually), DVD player included. Design is very good looking. Comes with a reboot CD (other laptops don't have this.) This actually saved my computer's life.

Cons: (1)Durability! (then again, I don't think its the cpu's fault. My siblings used it on a pillow and now the charger's plug is too loose that it can't charge :(
(2)I doubt its in the market at this time

Overall, I've had very good experiences with this laptop. . .
