5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent prints in a small package
I needed a photo printer that produced excellent pictures, was easy to use, and had a small footprint. The HP 325 Photosmart filled all of my needs. The photo quality is excellent and it takes up very little space. My wife isn't exactly a techie, so I wanted a photo printer that was very easy to use. 1.0 out of 5 stars Phantom Paper Jam can cost extra
I have had the 325 model for less than a year. Up until recently I was satisfied with its performance using it to print less than 5 pictures at a time. Recently, I needed to print a series of pictures (more than 10 in one sitting) and had an error message-print cartridge jam-I fixed the paper jam but continued to get the error message. I called HP and they stated this...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent prints in a small package, October 11, 2004
This review is from: HP PhotoSmart 325 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I needed a photo printer that produced excellent pictures, was easy to use, and had a small footprint. The HP 325 Photosmart filled all of my needs. The photo quality is excellent and it takes up very little space. My wife isn't exactly a techie, so I wanted a photo printer that was very easy to use. All she has to do is plug in her CF card, choose a picture, and hit print. No need for the computer. I can use Photoshop to adjust my pictures and then easily print photo quality 4x6's. Highly recommended. The only drawback is the small screen size. You can pay $50 more for the next model up for a larger screen and a few more on-printer options though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Little Printer, April 5, 2005

Printer has proven to be EXCELLENT as far as I have used it. Won it in a contest, so I'm not complaining. ;)

I have printed out some pictures and find the quality to be EXCELLENT. The speed of printing is also fast and the printer prints BORDERLESS photos (which is a handy feature).

As with any product there are a few cons.
1) Printer is a PHOTO printer. That means you won't be printing out an 8X10s; you can only print 4X6 photos (but I'm expecting you know this already..)

2)Cable to hook to PC is *not* included. If you want to transfer pictures from your computer, don't expect to get a cable with your printer. The cable is sold separately. However, a flash/USB drive will work perfectly.. Just plug the USB drive into your computer, stick the pictures on it, then plug the USB drive into your printer.

---------
The printer can recognize MANY different formats, SD cards, USB input devices (photo iPod, flash drive, etc..) Which is very convenient. It can also view the pictures straight from your camera (make sure it's compatible, most are..)

If you're looking to just print photos and want a light-weight and portable printer, this is the item for you!

I called HP and they stated this was a fatal error in the unit and encouraged me to purchase the updated model rather than fix my printer. I searched the internet for a solution only to find that others had encountered this and the solution was to purchase the "new'model- A not very cost effective solution as this was not supposted to be a disposable model.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome photo lab for $149, January 17, 2005

I highly recommend this printer. I did plenty of research and came to the conclusion that this printer offers the best features for the price. The other HP model (HP 375) offers a photo preview screen but costs more. I saw a retail store rep print the same image on HP and Epson printers and the HP printers usually were faster with equal or better photo quality. My family has used this printer for a month now and it is so much fun. Great job HP!

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice design... but the photo quality is strongly lacking, January 18, 2006

I was strongly considering buying this printer - until I saw my friend's prints she made with it.

I'm usually a fan of HP but I really feel they took a step backwards with the photosmart series. The only real drawback to this printer is the fact that it only uses a tri-color cartridge. Yup, there is only cyan, magenta, and yellow. No black! The way this printer makes black (or shades of grey for that matter) is by combining all 3 colors to form a composite black.

This causes the prints to seem washed out and lacking dark contrast (not to mention using a large amount of ink). If you have any sort of darkness, shading, or greys in there, they will be represented poorly. Don't believe me? Go to a local store, ask to see the examples, and compare it to other printers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, February 26, 2005
This review is from: HP PhotoSmart 325 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I got an hp325 for Christmas. I took pictures of the family opening presents with my Canon A70 and printed them out before breakfast. Quality is great. Took camera and printer to a meeting, took pictures and printed them. Everybody was amazed at the quality and very idea that I could print pictures right at the table. Haven't tried installing in computer. Why bother? I can download from card to computer with card reader. Love the portability. Getting our son one for his birthday.

1.0 out of 5 stars Regional Coding, October 22, 2005
This review is from: HP PhotoSmart 325 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I cannot recommend HP to anybody anymore. The company introduced regional coding, which means printer cartridges from one region cannot be used in another. For most this is probably not an issue, for those busily traveling around it is. Also, it is an issue of principle, its bad enough for DVD, but printer cartridges? HP has introduced this rather secretely and if you don't read the box cover etc very carefully, you may not notice. The main issue is in Europe. I got caught out. I bought a 3 catridges overseas - I could not use them on my HP printer. I asked for a refund, HP Email Support (US) was nice but ineffective. HP Customer Support (Europe) was snotty and very rude. I think HP does not care about its customers and this cost me over US$75, almost 50% of my printer (my sixth and last HP). Don't buy HP.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Pictures, in a Easy to use Format, September 3, 2005
This review is from: HP PhotoSmart 325 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
My Husband was quite pleased with this photo printer as his birthday present. And I might add he is not easily pleased with gifts. The picture quality is excellant for its price, and was very easy to use. The only thing I was disapointed in was the fact that it did not come with the battery to make it more portable. I thought it was included in the package. I guess at that price that's what you get.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Printer, January 30, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: HP PhotoSmart 325 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I got this printer not too long ago, and it has preformed pretty well so far. The pictures are good and it does not use too much ink, or so it appears. Again, the pictures are good quality, but they do take some time to dry. This might be because of the photo paper. I would suggest buying a usb cable as one is not included with the package. All in all, the cheap price and good pictures makes this a good photo printer.
