HP Photosmart 375,
By
This review is from: HP PhotoSmart 375 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I have used the HP Photosmart 375 (under $200.00) for the past month. I have taken it on both leisure and business trips. I have found it to be all encompassing for a "portable" and "photo" printer. We just had a family reunion and of course this was a big hit since I was able to print from my camera's SD memory card (CompactFlash, SmartMedia, MultiMedia, Memory Stick, SD, or XD are additional cards this printer can print from) by using the printer's rechargeable battery (manuft. rates 75 pix per charge) feature which makes this printer truly portable. I purchased the car adapter soon after the event to ensure that I was able to always have power to print. The photos where easy to review (2.5" flip-up LCD display) and print. The photo print quality was excellent and the family enjoyed choosing their photos and the convenience of having them "now" was a big hit. In fact, my brother purchased one the very next day. I also liked having the ability to use the flip-up display to rotate, crop, zoom and fix red-eye before printing all without the use of a PC attached. I recommend this for anyone who would enjoy the freedom and ease of printing photos just about anywhere and at anytime.

Better than most, but lots of minor problems,

I'm an experienced photographer, and take lots of photos. The problem, according to my wife, is that I don't print enough of them, especially the ones SHE likes.
So I decided to buy her a small 4x6 photo printer. She doesn't want to learn Photoshop or anything like that. She just wants to press a button and get a photo. I chose the HP 375 because it had a popup LCD screen to preview the shots. Obviously, she doesn't want to print every shot we take. The other printers I considered, Canon and Epson, did not have LCD screens. On the whole, I'm pleased with the printer. The 4x6 photos come out with beautiful resolution and color. I compared some to ones I printed with my full-size Epson Photo 785EPX after a bit of adjustment with Photoshop, and thought the HP did a bang-up job. My wife just plugs the memory card into the printer and starts printing. There's no need to connect to the computer. Furthermore, I found that it will print equally well on cheaper photo paper. I tried Kirkland (from Costco) and a box of Kodak paper that would not print well on my Epson printer. On the downside: there are serious software issues, at least with our unit. It periodically freezes, and the only way to resume is with a hard reboot... basically unplugging it and starting from scratch. That's no fun when you're dealing with a 512 MB memory card. And lately, for no reason, after printing a photo, it asks whether we want to "deselect all photos." At no point, had we "selected" any photos except the one we were printing. I explained the problems to HP via their "online tech support chat" which took forever to even load (using ActiveX). The only response before they ended the session was: "I understand." They even emailed me a transcript of the entire chat, which showed that they ended the session, it wasn't a glitch or online problem. I then emailed info about the problems to their tech support folks via their "email us" option, and received a message that was filled with unusual sentence structures and bad grammar, leading me to believe it was either written by a robot or someone in a foreign country. Basically their response was to unplug the printer and reboot. I find this to be an unsatisfactory way of dealing with what appears to be a software bug. The cost per print, using HP supplies, is fairly steep. A box containing 125 sheets of 4x6 paper, and an ink cartridge costs about $45. I calculate that as 36-cents per print. The Epson is the only personal photo printer to advertise its price per print, claiming 29-cents. Again, I plan to use Kirkland photo paper to reduce our costs. Bottom line: the photos look great, but they're expensive and there are irritating problems with the printer's software.

I ordered this from amazon. Recieveing the printer, it looked like the item was packed by a family of gorillias. There was no air packs in the box. What was amazon thinking? It clearly went into the box alright the only thing that saved the box was the strofoam inserts HP put in. The printer itself is mint. Do not listen to the negative reports what I like best it is not dependant on my computer or it's software to run. You simply put in the card from your camera, scroll through your photos, enhance it if you wish, put a frame on it if you wish, crop, many tools built into the machince. It does print in 60 seconds. You can put 4 photos in the space of a 4 x 6 photo with or wothout frames. Beautiful prints! Do not be decieved into thinking there is room for more than one cartridge. It is either color photos or black and white photos or sephia which is an old fashioned finish. I ordered the internal battery and bag from Hp since it is not available on amazon. I am looking forward to the portability of the machince. Good value, although costco had it cheaper by $20.00, outside of that I am quite pleased.

A really superb printer. It makes the most beautiful prints I have ever seen, its fast, very easy to use and nice looking.
I had purchased the new Olymus Verve, could not get good prints on my HP 1350, was driving me a bit nuts. Prints were poor. Got the HP yesterday, and started printing from the Olympus Verve XD card, wow, is all I can say now, fabulous results. The features on it are great and sooo easy to use. Great job by HP, the best I have ever seen, had previously gotten a Sony dye sublimation printer which was not so good, this HP is the king of hill Totally delighted, was even more delighted when I found there was a $30.00 rebate.

my canon 510 got glowing reviews just about across the board, but not this printer. i have very little space, and needed something small just for photos. so, even though there were many negative reviews i went ahead and bought it. couldn't be happier! colour fabulous! and when you print on stock paper you can use photo to do some extra artwork on. I LOVE IT.

No more stopping by the store to pick up her pictures!
I did a lot of research on printers before I bought the HP 375. I went to Best Buy with (2) different memory cards (my daughter & I have different cameras, different cards) and I printed several pictures on several printers in the store. Out of every single printer there, the HP 375 was the "BEST BUY" in the store!!! I came home & immediatly ordered it from the internet. We've had it for ~9 months, & we LOVE it! This printer is small, completely user-friendly, makes terrific 4x6 prints, & is absolutely perfect for anyone. Pictures are easy to edit - you can add a border, remove 'red eye', brighten, etc. Just select which pics you want to print by using the LCD screen (without having to waste several sheets of paper by printing all of the pictures on an index sheet). You will LOVE having the screen!!! Best of all, you don't even need a computer...It's an excellent choice.

Awesome little printer got us printing pictures again...,

This is by far one of the better purchases I feel I have made in recent years. My wife and I stopped using film about 5 years ago. We now have three kids and gigs upon gigs of pictures we have taken, and they all live on our computer. I don't think we have printed 2 dozen pictures in 5 years, until now. We print the pictures we like, when we take them. We still store everything on the computer, but now we actually have pictures again!
The quality is awesome. I mean, I'm not a photo expert or anything, but the only way I can tell the pictures I print from photo shop prints is by flipping the pics over to see they are on HP paper. We take it with us all the time. How many times has someone asked you for a copy of the picture you just took? How many times has that person actually gotten the picture? With this printer, we just say, "you got 90 seconds?", pop the memory card in and print, here's your copy. Anyway, enough rambling...let's just say that if you like taking pictures and then actually having pictures to show, this is the best printer I have ever used for printing 4x6 pics.

I purchased this printer after deliberating if I should save $50 and buy the 325 model, but I'm glad I didn't. The flip up screen is great and all of the editing options are perfect for what I need. I'm finally getting physical prints from my digital camera with great results and I couldn't be happier. Now I just need to find out what the difference between the #95 and #97 color cartridges are :)

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HP PhotoSmart 375 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I purchased this printer for my parents who are basically illiterate when it comes to computers and never used their digital camera because they never could figure out how to print the pictures on their regular photo printer. I got it with free shipping, in just a couple of days. The printer works great (the color originally didn't print correctly-it was purple-but a quick cleaning of the heads fixed this.) There are probably portable printers with higher resolution out there, but for $150 this was perfect and the pictures look great! My one complaint was that if I purchased the photo paper through amazon, I lost out on the free shipping, so I went and got the paper at Staples.

Freedom to print where you want,

HP has done it once again. With the 375 you not only get stunning photos that look great every time, but with the new portable photo printer, you can get an optional battery and print anywhere you happen to be. For any one who wants to be able to print at anything like a kids b-day party, or that pesky family reunion, or the work Christmas party, this is a awesome printer. Get those candid photos, and print them on the spot, no running back to the house, or office to get your prints anymore!!
Overall I would have to say, this is a great little printer series that has only gotten better with the new models. Larger screen for preview, better video printing options, able to edit your pictures right there with a printer that is smaller than a bread box.. it doesn't get any better. |
