Product Description

From the Manufacturer

This bundle includes the HP PhotoSmart 635 digital camera and a 32 MB Secure Digital (SD) memory card.
The HP Photosmart 635 digital camera delivers great digital snapshots with 2.1 MP total resolution and up to 12x total zoom - 3x optical and 4x digital. Snap a photo and select your favorite destination - e-mail addresses, printers, and more using HP Instant Share™. Connect your camera to the computer and your photos are instantly sent. The camera also features streaming video capability that allows video capture which is limited only by the size of the camera’s memory (16 MB internal memory and SD/MMC memory card slot). On-camera manual controls and menus allow camera users to override automatic functions to add creative touches. Easily print without a computer via USB cable, or the camera’s memory card. Optional dock enables effortless sharing of photos to computer (or select HP printers), recharging of batteries, and slide shows on TV using wireless remote.

Great Photos

  • Take a photo and immediately choose from the back of the camera which destinations will receive the photo when the camera is reconnected to a PC. Two of the 31 available destinations are print options. Remaining destinations are downloaded from the PC and can be used for e-mail addresses, distribution lists, hpphoto.com, and more. Receivers get custom e-mails with thumbnail-size images that are viewed on the HP Instant Share home page - no large attachments, no downloads.
  • Direct photo printing allows you to attach your HP digital camera directly to an HP Photosmart printer or select all-in-one with a USB cable and print photos - no PC required. Using the LCD display and front-panel button on select HP Photosmart color inkjet printers, you can also print a page of thumbnail images directly from your digital camera via a USB connection.
  • HP Memories Disc Creator software allows photos to be arranged, previewed, and displayed in slide-show fashion once they have been burned to a CD - using a TV and a DVD player or a computer with a CD or DVD-ROM drive. A music file and title slide can accompany the photos. The slide show can then be copied to other CDs, or printed as an album or as thumbnails. The software can store up to 499 digital images. The personalized slide show can be previewed and changed before it is archived to CD.
  • HP Photo and Imaging software is an application for HP digital imaging products - Photosmart cameras, scanners, Photosmart printers and select all-in-ones - that allows you to edit and resize digital images and scanned documents. One set of instructions, icons, and menus make the software easy to learn, use, and remember regardless of which digital imaging product used.

Select and Share

  • USB (Universal Serial Bus) allows plug-and-play installation of peripheral devices to a PC - users no longer need to open their PC to install add-in cards, shut down or restart their system. USB's plug-and-play operation allows users to unplug and switch peripheral devices while the computer is on, without restarting. Users can also install more than one device on a PC and run them simultaneously provided their PCs have more than one USB port.
  • Direct connect technology allows you to directly connect your camera via USB cable or insert your HP digital camera memory card into digital camera memory card slots on select HP Photosmart color inkjet printers and all-in-ones. The printer's built-in memory card slots support CompactFlash, Secure Digital, MultiMedia, SmartMedia, and Sony Memory Stick cards; and allow you to print - no PC required.

Action

  • Get the results you want - use either automatic or manual controls for sharpness, saturation, contrast, and more - all with handy on-camera buttons and menus.
  • Camera command central! See your photo right after you take it on the 1.6-inch, integrated LCD panel - then keep only your best photos. View video and enhance photos. Operate menus and HP Instant Share™ all from the back of your camera.

One Touch

  • Easily print photos - without a PC - directly from your camera to HP Photosmart printers and select HP all-in-ones via included USB cable.
  • Store photos and video on the 16 MB internal memory, or use Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMedia (MMC) memory cards. Card slot can accept SD or MMC cards with as much as 256 MB of storage space.
  • Included software provides one set of instructions for all HP digital photography products - scanners, printers, and cameras. HP Photo & Imaging software icons and menus are easy to learn, use, and remember.
  • Once photos are saved on your PC or Macintosh computer, create a digital photo slide show on CD, complete with music, to view and enjoy using your TV and DVD player or PC using HP Memories Disc Creator software.

2.0 out of 5 stars O.K for the price/bad warrenty service/&eats batteries quick, May 11, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: HP Photosmart 635xi ( Q2225A#ABA ) (Electronics)
Here's my review for HP Photosmart 635: I got this camera about half a year ago, and it worked quite well. However, unless you use full optical zoom, the edges of the photos are bent outwards. This camera also eats batteries much faster than my Kodak DX6340 did. I had a problem with the software that came with my camera so I have to use the Kodak Easyshera software instead. Also, this camera records audio videos, but you can only hear the audio on the computer.

Through all this, this camera is still good if you can get a good price.

BUT MY MAIN PROBLEM IS THIS: HP doesn't offer good warrenty service. When after I had this camera for about half a year, it stopped working, still in warrenty. I went onto HP LiveChat support online and since the people there are from India, it was hard to communicate with them, even online. After confusion and a long wait (about two weeks), they finally sent me a camera that was broken which they "fixed into perfect working condition" after saying that they would send me a new one. This camera was still broken when I got it, and they later told me that they only send refurbished ones. I told them this camera was also broken, but they couldn't send me another replacement until they recieved the first broken camera. Even after that and my continued contacting them, they kept on saying "I am sorry. You will get the confermation e-mail shortly." They never sent it and I waited two months without a working camera. Finally, the camera they sent me started working, even though it still doesn't look as good as new.

HP couldn't help but leave me without a working camera for so long even though I was under warrenty.

One last complaint: When I first got the camera, it was missing the lens cap which it should have included according to the box it came in.

IN CONCLUSION:

If you want a decient camera for cheap and don't plan to use it too much, and if you don't care if HP won't replace it if it breaks down, this camera is a o.k. buy (if you don't mind all the other things I mentioned above also). But I don't plan on buying electronics from HP again. P.S. The Olympus C765 looks like a good camera but it's more expensive.
