I have had this printer for quite a while. I had one of HP's original compact printers that allowed you to make a CD from your camera card and loved that one too........for a short amount of time. I used both printers A LOT. Now I have two HP printers with the same problem. They stopped feeding the paper into the printer. First I had the same problem as another...

I liked this printer so much I bought two. The capabilities of this device are remarkable. I use it daily in my dental practice for many purposes. I just slide in an SD card from my camera and within seconds my photos are on the screen ready to print.
I gave one to our daughter who loves to take pictures. She places postcard labels on the back and sends them as postcards with her family photos on them.
The A826 appears as a small computer, like an old Mac, and you can do onscreen editing such as crop, brightness control, remove redeye, place printing or hand writing in many colors on the photo and place multiple photos on one page. It prints on 4x6 and 5x7 paper. I recommend the 110 photopack at $35 and 30 cents per photo.
I found a need to turn off a function I think was called Brightness Enhance because the skin tones were turning out too dark. Also, don't let the photos stack up since the ink is still wet when they drop out of the printer. I love purchasing from Amazon but if you are in a hurry to see and buy this printer Office Depot has them on display but I've never found an employee that knows anything about them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money!, December 1, 2008
This review is from: HP Photosmart A826 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I received this as a birthday gift and absolutely love it. It is a little expensive but I think it is well worth the money. The pictures have excellent quality and it is extremely user-friendly, even for someone like me who can barely put paper in a printer. I turned it on without reading the directions and it told me to insert the ink cartridge and the paper. I didn't even know where to start so I pushed the button on the screen that said "show me how" and it did and made it so easy. I have already printed so many pictures and love it!

*UPDATE*
I have now owned this printer for a while and I still think it is by far the best photo printer I have ever used. I actually just used it to print out all my Christmas cards and was able to use the printer to crop the photo i wanted, add a caption, and put a frame on the photo...all on the printer. I will say there is one con and that is that the clip art selection is very limited, but I don't see myself wanting to add clip art to my photos that often so it's really not a big deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Home photo printer, June 1, 2009
This review is from: HP Photosmart A826 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I love this printer, it's fun to print pictures for scrapbooks, giving grandparents etc. I wouldn't use it to print all pictures, just special ones that you might want to put into scrapbooks or give away in a timely manner. I haven't hooked mine up to a computer yet, but I am not sure I will. It's just fun to play with. The only trouble I am having is that it wants to feed a bunch of paper at one time, jamming it up. At times, I just put one sheet in at a time.

I am an avid scrapbooker and serious about my photos and their quality. These far exceed anything I get from printing at any retailer. My friend, who also scraps, agrees that this is top of the line. Just received mine today and I am already in love with it. Awesome.

I have had this printer for quite a while. I had one of HP's original compact printers that allowed you to make a CD from your camera card and loved that one too........for a short amount of time. I used both printers A LOT. Now I have two HP printers with the same problem. They stopped feeding the paper into the printer. First I had the same problem as another reveiwer with getting messages about the paper loading and out of paper comment. I kept the first printer to continue to use the CD making feature. This 2nd printer will probably be tossed.

I do have this comment, however; I love the prints and the capablities of the printer. They are true-to-life color and fun to put the comments and frames on the pictures. I will try again and buy HP's newest compact printer. However, I will definitely buy the extended warranty if available.

My wife and I wanted a dedicated photo printer to take the load off our primary printer. We did a LOT of research and eventually went with the HP PhotoSmart A826. Six months later, we couldn't be happier with our purchase. Very highly recommended product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Home Photo Printer, July 9, 2009
This review is from: HP Photosmart A826 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I didn't know what to expect from this photo printer. It had all the functions that I wanted and reviews were good. It takes a while to print but well worth the wait. The custom features are great and pictures are sharp and beautiful. My only disappointment is the price of the ink, very expensive versus the price to go print them at a store. I love to take pictures so it has become an expensive hobby for me however am still more than happy with the printer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great on-the-go photo printer, November 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HP Photosmart A826 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
The printer is great right out of the box ready to go. Very intuitive and easy to use, and is very portable. I used it to do group photos on-site at an event and people loved it. The down side is that photos take about two full minutes to print instead of the 38 seconds advertised, and it loses some detail with dark colors (i.e. people in dark clothes). This is the one portable photo printer HP does not make a carrying case for. I'm a professional photographer, and this printer is a great addition to my studio.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, This Printer!!!!..., September 22, 2009

This review is from: HP Photosmart A826 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I am a Kodak girl through-and-through. Kodak camera, Kodak Easyshare software, Kodak printer. Of everything, the only weak item was my printer. I stood behind it as long as I could, but it finally crapped out on me for the last time. After seeing all the dismal reviews for their latest line of printers, I started looking elsewhere...enter this little piece of printing heaven!

Words cannot express just how much I love this printer. I've had it two weeks now and have printed about a million pictures. When I first received it, I couldn't hook it up to my computer since I didn't have the correct size USB cable handy...no worries. I had about 10 photos still on my SD card in my camera and printed those out. It was SO EASY! Just like using the big kiosk's that you see at Wal-Mart.

The next day I got my USB, hooked it up to my computer, and was THRILLED to see I could just as easily print out all my past photos that are on my Kodak program (I initially downloaded the HP software, but figured, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. I love my Kodak program, so I ended up uninstalling the HP one without ever using it). The clarity of my photos, and the richness of the colors are absolutely AMAZING! I print all my photos with the white boarder (tends to class-up the pictures a bit IMO), and it never cuts into the actual photo. I love that I can just unplug this, and bring it anywhere. We're heading to Disney next month, and I'm DEFINITELY bringing this with us to use in the camper!

I am sooooo glad I bought this, and, as you can see, absolutely recommend this to anyone whose interested! I still love my Kodak camera and software, but man did they drop the ball with their photo printers...luckily for me, HP was there to pick it back up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what I wanted it to do., January 6, 2009
This review is from: HP Photosmart A826 Compact Photo Printer (Office Product)
I purchased this unit as a stand alone photo printer. Setup was basically; take it out of the box, plug it in, place the ink cartridge, turn it on and follow the on screen prompts. That's it. It is small enough to be portable, and it's camera independent with a USB port, and a couple of different card slots. It does what I needed it to do.
