Great printer for the money.....,

If you are looking for a high quality printer, keep looking. But, if you are looking for a good all-in-one printer with this price range, you will be happy with this. The printer is very easy to use & it is quiet.
I recommend going to a store with your memory card & good quality photo paper. So, you will know exactly what your pictures look like. I am very happy with this HP & will recommend it.

We just bought this to replace our old HP All-in-One. Printers have come a long way in just a couple years. It prints quietly and quickly with excellent quality.
The CD/DVD printer option is a nice add-on not usully found in this price range. But the photo printer option is where this printer really excels. Pop in your memory card and the LCD screen will allow you to view, sort, and edit the photos on your disk. You can crop rotate and reduce red-eye, all on the printer itself. The photo quality isn't as good as a stand alone printer (I'm going to hold onto my Kodak Printer Dock for now) but it is certainly one of the better inkjets I've used. All-in-all, this printer does a lot for the $150 price tag!

My previous HP printer died...So, i was not really interested in another model of HP printer...but, this one received decent reviews, and I like the fact that it only take two cartridges (Very inexpensive $17.99 & $14.99 at office max) So, i took a chance....and boy, its OUTSTANDING SO FAR!
One thing to consider when purchasing a printer, how many cartridges does it take? The price can really hit your budget if you do a lot of printing like i do. Also, If you get yourself a router you can set up a home network and attach several computers to it, i did! Pros - Quiet, very inexpensive cartridges, easy set up, bright crystal clear print jobs, and very sleek and attrative. Cons - No USB printer cable included (not a problem if your replacing an existing printer) all in all, very please so far, and i do use it often for personal and home office use. Highly recommended!

This is not a high end all in one, and the price reflects that. That being said it does a pretty good job for what it is. We bought this to replace an aging HP all in one that is huge compared to this model. We wanted a flatbed scanner and a better method of printing cd labels. We are in the midst of a loooong project of coverting vinyl records to cd's and the stick on labels are a real drag. This printer does a great job of getting the print on the cd where you want it. The roxio program is not the best, but it does work, and we are doing so many we have come up with a standard background and just change the playlist for each copy. We have printed a few pictures on photo paper and the quality is good enough for photo album prints. I'd agree about taking them to a professional lab if you are going to frame them or buy a high end photo printer. We don't frame many pics so the cost of a good photo printer would not be worth it to us. All in all this is a very good printer for the cost. The scan, copy features work well and the onboard photo program will get the job done. I do like being able to print from memory cards and the process is fairly simple and easy to use. I would recommend this printer if you need a good all in one at a reasonable cost, and don't expect studio quality photo printing.

Superb All-In-One + Disc Printer,
By
This review is from: HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier (Q8330A#ABA) (Office Product)
Before I bought this All-In-One (AIO), I read all the reviews I could find. Although the scores were quite good, the reviews stated that 1) the printed text -- on plain paper -- was less than desired and 2) the AIO was especially noisy. Then I saw this product in a store, tried it out, and decided to buy it based on in-store results. To nobody's surprise, I found that the two specific faults in the reviews were totally untrue (when you read them all, as I did, you'll find that there are really only two reviews republished over and over by the review web sites)! Bottom Line: This is an excellent AIO: text is crisp and it's not very noisy at all. And here's a pleasant surprise for Mac users: although a separate Roxio application disc is included for printing on disc with Windows, printing on disc with the Mac is accomplished with the built-in HP software (not readily apparent, but a call to HP settled this one)! It also does a great job printing on disc with BeLight's Disc Cover. And everyone knows that cheap, plain paper should not be used for text with inkjet printers, right? A better-grade paper provides superb text print results.

This all in one is very easy to use. I am using it with Vista (no problems installing). I have printed great prints (and I compared them to the exact ones I had printed at labs). I also printed onto Cd's and it was nothing but ridiculously easy.
The only reason I have giving it 4 stars is that it is not wireless .. that would have made it an all in one perfect system. However, there are ways to make is wireless so don't let that deter you if you need the cd/dvd printing. The inks are priced much less that other printers I was looking at (epson and canon in particular). We have had all HP printers and once again, this exceeds expectations. You will not be dissapointed. All problems people have written about are because of user or configuration problems. But don't take my work for it..try it yourself.

Quality all-in-one printer,

I basically use the printer for home and school works. I went to stores to really inquiry about its functions and features before placed an order on Amazon. This printer works well - prints very fast, scans documents and pictures clear and copies documents in seconds. I haven't used the CD/DVD label printing feature but this is one of the reason I selected HP C5280. It was easy to set up and register the product with lots of HP support services.
I'm overall satisfied with it and would recommend it for home or small office users.

CD and DVD Labels Look Great If You Know What You're Doing,

A word about CD and DVD labels: Yes, Roxio's Express Labeler is TERRIBLE software. But you don't have to use that program! Don't blame the printer if you haven't looked at alternatives. Some of the reviews here dismiss the printer because the software doesn't do what they want. That makes no sense to me. Yes, HP could have bundled better software with the printer. But since they didn't, it's probably best to try something else.
I have a little experience with design software, so I simply made a 5x5 document and designed my label. Printed to the CD/DVD tray and it came out perfect on the first try. I used Adobe InDesign for this, but you can easily use Photoshop as well. In fact, there are some FREE open source programs that are good choices: Gimp (an open source copy of Photoshop) and Scribus (an open source copy of Quark/InDesign). Just Google 'em and you'll find them. I believe they are all available for Windows, OSX and Linux. There's a learning curve, but don't let that stop you. You should also explore other programs specifically for disc labeling. Spend some time on Google and I'm sure you can find a good replacement. Remember, the printer isn't the problem... it's the Roxio software! So far, this is an excellent printer/scanner combo. I am pleasantly surprised, and can now make Holiday Mix CDs for all my friends.

It worked the second time around,
By
This review is from: HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier (Q8330A#ABA) (Office Product)
I purchased the printer, and installed by the step by step directions. On the second night of use, the printer wouldn't work, so I went on a live chat with HP, and they told me it didn't initialize and went through the steps with me again. Well on the third and fourth night, the same thing happened, but now HP seemed to think that there was a hardware problem and to return the product. I did...boy the second machine installed like a dream, and for the past two weeks has produed fast clean copies without a problem. I've printed several pictures, and yes they are not as high quality as I could get a printers..but they are great for the frig and putting up in the office.
Now that it works properly, I am very happy with the printer. HP support were very patient, and did try to work thru the problem.

HP the best,
This review is from: HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier (Q8330A#ABA) (Office Product)
I've owned HP printers from my first computer. They are buller proof as far as I'm concerned. Had a Lexmark all in one but got rid of it within a week. Yes....the software on this one was extra slow with installing but well worth the wait. The color is by far the best for the money. I like the fact you can buy oversized cartridges so as not to run to the store as often.
