Stellar All-in-One... Update: DEAD after 1.5 years!,
By Matt B. "I'm a level 10 vice-president!" (Des Plaines) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
I just bought this printer/fax/scanner/copier two nights ago from my local Office Depot. It was on sale for only $339! (Lowest price I found ANYWHERE (including internet) so far.) Anyway, I brought it home and plugged in all the cables. Before I had even installed the drivers, I could scan, and change settings on my computer! The embedded web-server is awesome!
The drivers comes in two installations for Windows PC's, Full: 1130mb, or Minimal: 350mb. The full install has all the drivers, and the full version of HP Image Zone for editing and touching up pictures. The minimal install has all the drivers, and an express version of the HP Image Zone software, which is still enough for most people. I also installed the drivers and software on my iMac, and that only seemed to take up about 300mb total. After I installed the drivers on both machines, I printed out some pages of various types, and I couldn't believe how fast this thing is! Once the print job was sent to the printer, it flew through whatever I printed. My next test was the fax. I have Vonage phone service, so I don't have to worry about getting a service or separate line for a fax. I put a splitter on my Linksys 2-port phone router, and hooked up all the cables. The on-screen fax test results looked all good, so I sent a fax over to work, and it came through flawlessly. I also tested it in recieving too, and that worked great as well. The only complaints I have about this all-in-one is that it doesn't have a sheet-feeder, and you cannot print directly on cd's with this printer, as far as I know. Other than that, this all-in-one is well worth the money. For $386 after taxes, and INCLUDING a 2-year extended warranty, this was a steal! 5 stars out of 5. It does what it says it will, and a hell of a lot more! Update: It died after only 1.5 years... This is unacceptable. I got my money back because I actually bought a protection plan on the printer and got a full refund since it died within less than 2 years from the initial purchase date. I now have an officejet pro L7680 and it has it's issues, but at least it still works!

The Printer I've Been Waiting For!!,
By
This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
I purchased this because my PSC2210V was showing its age. I am not dissappointed. I have spent the last 2 weeks putting it through its paces with my iMac G5 (Note to Mac users: It works with Airport!!!). The print quality was at least equal to that of a 1 hour photo place. On normal documents it is up to twice as fast as my PSC2210 was. Scan speed was a lot faster (yes, the scan data comes via the 802.11g port!) than the PSC2210 and quality was quite good. Even the flash memory cards transfer though the wireless connection. my only negative so far is that it lacks a dedicated envelope slot (you have to remove the paper and feed envelopes through the main paper tray) but that is a minor nit. The guy who gave this 1 star because of reginal coding of the cartridges must be a seller of refilled cartridges becuase this is not a portable -- you're not going to take with you on a trip. It would only be an issue if you moved from the US to england. Igonre his review and take it from me, you will love this printer.

The long awaited high quality AIO printer arrives!!!,

This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
In the past, HP dominated the laser printer market, Epson the ink jet & scanners, and Microtek for the scanners. I had the HP 2P+ Laser, Epson 800, Epson 785epx, & the Microtek Scanmaker 4. All great product of that time. All of these products are still working! I had to give them away. Didnt want all the clutter.
I had been reading people reviews for numerous Multi-Function printers in zdnet, Amazon, tom's hardware, yada, yada. None was good in all four features. Especially a solid fax & scanner. Most were great photo printers with expensive ink cartridges. HP had driver problems, Epson normally does not add the fax feature, and the other companies, didnt have great scanner specs. HP came close with the 7310 & 7410 but driver problems. So, I patiently waited for more than a year. Recently, Epson had a new lineup of ink jet printers with DURABrite Ultra Inks but read a bad review with the print quality. (could be a defective one) Then I went to Best Buy, saw the NEW Epson Stylus CX4800 (Epson rep told me about the CX5800F) & the NEW HP PhotoSmart 3310. Epson is great but I didnt care for the back paper feeder. And I wanted a good scanner. HP optical of 4800 is better than Epson 1200. Both scanners are 48 bit. Max resolution is all software so it does not mean much to me. Speed is a plus (HP is faster) [...] It was great! Love the HP software. Setup the wireless on the HP control panel. All my computers on the network had no problems communicating with this printer. Scanning is great! Printing photo from the memory card didnt give me great results. So, use the HP software or Adobe PhotoShop to print all your photos. (make sure you use the right settings for the right paper for the perfect result) Although, I like the Epson over the HP for printing options. As per all the previous reviews, wish it had a paper & envelope feeder. (Auto duplex would be great too! But Auto duplex can create problems) This AIO printer will not disappoint you. Im still testing the scanner. So far, Im please with this product!
