Stellar All-in-One... Update: DEAD after 1.5 years!,
By Matt B. "I'm a level 10 vice-president!" (Des Plaines) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
I just bought this printer/fax/scanner/copier two nights ago from my local Office Depot. It was on sale for only $339! (Lowest price I found ANYWHERE (including internet) so far.) Anyway, I brought it home and plugged in all the cables. Before I had even installed the drivers, I could scan, and change settings on my computer! The embedded web-server is awesome!
The drivers comes in two installations for Windows PC's, Full: 1130mb, or Minimal: 350mb. The full install has all the drivers, and the full version of HP Image Zone for editing and touching up pictures. The minimal install has all the drivers, and an express version of the HP Image Zone software, which is still enough for most people. I also installed the drivers and software on my iMac, and that only seemed to take up about 300mb total. After I installed the drivers on both machines, I printed out some pages of various types, and I couldn't believe how fast this thing is! Once the print job was sent to the printer, it flew through whatever I printed. My next test was the fax. I have Vonage phone service, so I don't have to worry about getting a service or separate line for a fax. I put a splitter on my Linksys 2-port phone router, and hooked up all the cables. The on-screen fax test results looked all good, so I sent a fax over to work, and it came through flawlessly. I also tested it in recieving too, and that worked great as well. The only complaints I have about this all-in-one is that it doesn't have a sheet-feeder, and you cannot print directly on cd's with this printer, as far as I know. Other than that, this all-in-one is well worth the money. For $386 after taxes, and INCLUDING a 2-year extended warranty, this was a steal! 5 stars out of 5. It does what it says it will, and a hell of a lot more! Update: It died after only 1.5 years... This is unacceptable. I got my money back because I actually bought a protection plan on the printer and got a full refund since it died within less than 2 years from the initial purchase date. I now have an officejet pro L7680 and it has it's issues, but at least it still works!

The Printer I've Been Waiting For!!,
By
This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
I purchased this because my PSC2210V was showing its age. I am not dissappointed. I have spent the last 2 weeks putting it through its paces with my iMac G5 (Note to Mac users: It works with Airport!!!). The print quality was at least equal to that of a 1 hour photo place. On normal documents it is up to twice as fast as my PSC2210 was. Scan speed was a lot faster (yes, the scan data comes via the 802.11g port!) than the PSC2210 and quality was quite good. Even the flash memory cards transfer though the wireless connection. my only negative so far is that it lacks a dedicated envelope slot (you have to remove the paper and feed envelopes through the main paper tray) but that is a minor nit. The guy who gave this 1 star because of reginal coding of the cartridges must be a seller of refilled cartridges becuase this is not a portable -- you're not going to take with you on a trip. It would only be an issue if you moved from the US to england. Igonre his review and take it from me, you will love this printer.

The long awaited high quality AIO printer arrives!!!,

This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
In the past, HP dominated the laser printer market, Epson the ink jet & scanners, and Microtek for the scanners. I had the HP 2P+ Laser, Epson 800, Epson 785epx, & the Microtek Scanmaker 4. All great product of that time. All of these products are still working! I had to give them away. Didnt want all the clutter.
I had been reading people reviews for numerous Multi-Function printers in zdnet, Amazon, tom's hardware, yada, yada. None was good in all four features. Especially a solid fax & scanner. Most were great photo printers with expensive ink cartridges. HP had driver problems, Epson normally does not add the fax feature, and the other companies, didnt have great scanner specs. HP came close with the 7310 & 7410 but driver problems. So, I patiently waited for more than a year. Recently, Epson had a new lineup of ink jet printers with DURABrite Ultra Inks but read a bad review with the print quality. (could be a defective one) Then I went to Best Buy, saw the NEW Epson Stylus CX4800 (Epson rep told me about the CX5800F) & the NEW HP PhotoSmart 3310. Epson is great but I didnt care for the back paper feeder. And I wanted a good scanner. HP optical of 4800 is better than Epson 1200. Both scanners are 48 bit. Max resolution is all software so it does not mean much to me. Speed is a plus (HP is faster) [...] It was great! Love the HP software. Setup the wireless on the HP control panel. All my computers on the network had no problems communicating with this printer. Scanning is great! Printing photo from the memory card didnt give me great results. So, use the HP software or Adobe PhotoShop to print all your photos. (make sure you use the right settings for the right paper for the perfect result) Although, I like the Epson over the HP for printing options. As per all the previous reviews, wish it had a paper & envelope feeder. (Auto duplex would be great too! But Auto duplex can create problems) This AIO printer will not disappoint you. Im still testing the scanner. So far, Im please with this product!

Stay Away!,

This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
This machine has been nothing but a complete frustration since I purchased it about five months ago. The paper tray consistently malfunctions by insisting that the machine is "Out of Paper" when, in fact, the paper tray is full. I note that other reviewers have cited this same problem.
Initially, this would occur once in awhile but has steadily worsened and now occurs each time I try to print something. I happened to be in my local electronics store last weekend where a Hewlett Packard representative was holding court. I bent his ear about this issue and he informed me that he had returned three of these machines in the past few months with the same problem. At his urging, I called HP Customer Service later that afternoon. They immediately agreed to forward me a different model (7410 Office Jet). It should arrive in about five business days. HP Customer Service apologized profusely (unbidden) for not being able to send it overnight but claimed they were temporarily out. I can only imagine there has been a run on the 7410 by the flood of 3310 casualties. I commend HP for their responsive and professional customer service but am quite sorry that I, like so many other consumers, had to avail myself of it in the first place. STAY AWAY!

Excellent AO1 unit.,

This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
I have always been reluctant to buy an All-in One unit mainly because of the fear of one part wearing out or going bad and causing the whole machine to be thrown away. These days it seems that is about all that is available. I wanted a good photo printer and reviews I read praised this unit. A great printer it is and it also scans great. The included software is also good, and it is relatively simple to use.
I have only one complaint, the fax function will not work from the computer(it is supposed to and has worked intermittently), you can use it as a stand alone fax machine and it performs well. I have tried connecting it to a different computer without any firewalls or anti-virus software and the same issue. I contacted HP support and they kept blaming the phone cord connection which obviously has nothing to do with the connection between the PC and AO1. I think my issue is probably a defect in my unit and I probably won't use the fax much anyway. I just have to print out my faxes and scan them back into the machine. I didn't return it in the allowed time (was not bought on Amazon) so I am pretty much stuck with it. I probably could send it to be repaired but I have been down that road before and I don't think it would be worth the trouble. This is a good machine though, I don't want to bad mouth it. It works very well, the ink cartridges seem like they are really going to last. I have printed many photos and color documents and they are all still almost full. If you buy one MAKE SURE everything works before the store return policy time has expired. To send it out (probably with repeated attempts to repair) simply would not be wort it at least to me. In the past I have had excellent service from HP products, please don't let this review deter you from purchasing one, I just got a bad one.

a novice's review,
This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
This machine is one of the best toys I got myself. This is truly a plug and play piece. One of the major attractions besides it being a 4 in 1 was the "wireless" bit. I did not have much difficulty setting it up. The online hp tech support sent me a step by step installation guide via email.
The only drawback I have noted so far: if faxing or scanning numerous pages, it becomes a bit tedious since the only input is the basic face down glass. Great for a medium volume home office.

So many reasons to chose the 3310,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
I finally got my HP Photosmart 3310 to replace an aging Epson. I was really looking at the Epson RX700 All-in-One because I really liked the idea of printing directly on CD/DVD's, but the lack of a fax is an annoyance, remote ink cartridges (the ink is NOT on the print head on the HP, lightening the moving parts which should improve reliability and print speed), dedicated 4x6 photo-paper tray (no need to switch paper when printing photos), and the networking (wired and wireless) included on the Hp's all convinced my the HP was the way to go.
Reasons to by the 3310 over the 3210? -Integrated Fax -Wireless networking allows you to locate the printer almost anywhere -Bigger LCD Other nice touches: -integrated slide/transparency adapter on the cover -Flash memory reader is accessible via the network -Compact design, no paper trays jutting awkwardly out of the unit -Integrated networking means one printer serves all household computers without workarounds like a "print server" This unit clearly shows the design lessons learned from previous generations of Hp All-in-Ones.

Generally excellent, even for a Mac,
This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
After a year and half of experience with the 3310 running in a Macintosh environment, I am delighted with some of its features. Photo prints are magnificent. Document printing, scanning, copying, and faxing all work perfectly. Wireless communication is great. Although it took a year and a half for HP to correct software problems that made OCR and slide scanning features unavailable to Mac users, once the problems were fixed, the results were awesome.

Nothing but trouble...,
By
This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
The first 3310 I set up worked perfectly, for about a month, then started with the "Out of Paper" message other people have complained about. I had to load each sheet individually by punching the OK button. I spent 2 hours on the phone with H-P customer service, who decided I needed a new printer. Fifteen days later, it arrived and I sent my defective one back.
Now, a couple of months later (I bought the first 3310 early in Dec. 2005, so all of this has taken place in 6 months), the replacement printer stops printing after a page and shows an error message on its LCD. When I shut it off to reset, it spends five minutes grinding and churning in Maintenance mode before it's ready to go again. Then it might work for three or four printing jobs, or maybe only one, until it does the same thing again. But at least the paper feeds OK, at least so far! I have relegated this piece of junk to simply occasional fax and copier use, which so far it's doing OK. Would I like my $300 bucks back? You bet. However, in its defense, when the 3310 prints, it produces beautiful pictures -- so good that I took a risk and bought an HP 8250 just for photo printing, since it uses the same inks and produces the same great quality. But it's a $100 printer, so if I get 100 8x10 prints out of it I'll won't be too upset if it dies and I have to toss it. But I wouldn't have another 3310 if HP sent me one for free. I don't need the hassle.

Best Pinter We Ever Owned!,
By tillygky "Kay" (Evans, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (Office Product)
After reading many people that had trouble with the paper out problem, I started out with that problem; I found out by pulling the bottom of the paper tray completely out insert your paper and adjust the tab to where the paper fits. Finally yet importantly push the tray back in, and you are ready to roll. Fax is wonderful as well as the scanner, and I have it networked to three computers, and all works great. H.P. has been known in the business field as workhorses, they work for years, Love Ya Hewlett Packard all-in-one 3310 Photosmart!
