I was previously using the HP7650 and had a positive experience. I am a CPA and was looking for a faster solution to scanning workpapers. The N7710 appeared to be a solution. However, I should have done my homework. The HP drivers are not compatible with Windows Home Server software so I couldn't use my server as a scan server. Additionally, the autofeed is very unreliable and inconsistent.

I've been using this scanner for a couple of years now to scan patient files into electronic format for a private physician practice. The scanner is relatively fast compared to any other scanner I've used (and I've had several) and the duplex feature is a huge plus. Paper jams are common if the papers are stuck or folded on to each other in the corners, but a quick flip through the stack should prevent this and keep things moving smoothly. The included software also leaves much to be desired in terms of interface but gets the job done, especially if you simply want to digitize documents into pdf files. I would recommend this scanner.
