Product Description

13.3" touch screen for hands-on control - Touch navigation makes the most of Windows 8. IPS technology offers wide viewing angles. Typical 1366 x 768 HD resolution. Energy-efficient LED backlight. 4th Gen Intel Core i3-4020Y mobile processor - Smart dual-core, four-way processing performance for HD-quality computing. 4GB system memory for basic multitasking - Adequate high-bandwidth RAM to smoothly run multiple applications and browser tabs all at once. 128GB solid state drive (SSD) - While offering less storage space than a hard drive, a flash-based SSD has no moving parts, resulting in faster start-up times and data access, no noise, and reduced heat production and power draw on the battery. Intel HD Graphics 4200 - Fourth-generation on-processor graphics, designed to complement low-voltage processors and render high-quality images and stream videos with minimized power consumption. Dual speakers built into the display - Beats Audio outputs amazing sound, rich audio and deep bass. Weighs 4.9 lbs. and measures 0.9" thin overall - Ultraportable design, featuring a smaller screen size and omitting the DVD/CD drive to achieve the compact form factor. Two 3-cell lithium-ion polymer batteries (one each, laptop base and display). Bluetooth interface syncs with compatible devices. USB 3.0 port in the base maximizes the latest high-speed devices. HDMI output in the base expands your viewing options. Media reader in the laptop base for simple photo transfer. Wireless network connectivity. Microsoft Windows 8 operating system. Front-facing HP TrueVision HD webcam with 2 noise-canceling microphones. Island-style keyboard with chiclet keys. HP CoolSense technology keeps you comfortable - Automatically adjusts the laptop's temperature based on use and conditions, so the surface stays cool instead of heating up. Additional ports Microphone-in/headphone-out combo jack in the laptop base. Note: This laptop does not include a built-in DVD/CD drive.

Have used this for almost a month.

A 13.3'' pad plus a laptop style keyboard. Nothing is more perfect than this design.
The screen is larger than most PAD such as Surface Pro in the world.
The 4th generation i3 CPU with 4GB memory is a good balance between performance and low power consumption and the CPU is much faster than the Intel Atom ones and more efficient than the AMD ones.

The 128GB SSD is fast and take only 4 seconds to display the windows 8.1 log in screen.
Keeps coding in Visual Studio 2013 update 2 trail version on it for 4 hours and it took only 50% of the battery.
I can detach the screen, lay in bed, plug in the earphone and read books with my favorite pdf reader.
It changed my life style significantly!!

You can deploy a web server on it and share the resource with your family.
You can develop the application on it directly to fit your need using your favorite IDE.
No need to waste your time to root the device like in IOS or Android because there're planty of software on windows platform.

Good job HP! And thanks for Amazon to provide us such a good product.

For the price of a 128 Gig Surface Pro, it has the brain of a Surface Pro 2, a well made keyboard, and a touch screen two. The look and feel of the whole unit are of precision high quality manufacture and it came in at $595 with no shipping, it was a super deal! My hands are not huge, but my fingers always miss keys on the smaller keyboards, that issue is resolved with this tiny bit bigger unit.

Good concept with the split screen. There are things about this laptop I really like. But there's stuff I don't like too. For example I'm not typing this review on it because IT"S NOT FRIGGIN HERE! 16 days ago the keyboard stopped working. Because I can type on the screen I was able to chat with HP who mailed me a shipping box to send the keyboard. Their HP service website has yet to even acknowledge they received it. The Fedex tracking number is the only reason I even know that. After two more chats and two phone calls all they can tell me (from a really weak connection in the Philippines) is that it's being looked at. That means I'm still at least a week away from getting this back. This computer will be a year old in 3 months. Maybe I'll have it back by the time I finish paying it off. Buy it if you like sleek design features. I'm ready to test it out as a Frisbee, but I can't because I only have half of it.

I purchased this computer for my daughter brand new from Best Buy. We loved it! It felt lighter weight than I thought the 5 lbs. would feel. We bought it for school and so we tried it out for a couple of days before we needed to go to her school to have it connected to the server. After 1 day of use (doing updates and getting everything arranged the way she wanted it), my daughter was trying out the tablet portion by reading on the the Kindle app. The touch screen froze up. After rebooting the tablet portion using the power button, the screen was still unresponsive. We reconnected to the keyboard portion and rebooted again. This time it began working again. I hoped it was just a fluke, but the next morning when she turned it on the screen froze up again! We decided to return it. I have a Windows 8.1 Surface Pro and it works great. I thought maybe we would have to get her a SP in order to know the machine was going to be dependable for the long haul. Since we were going to be spending a few hundred dollars more, and since she is really in to creative pursuits, we decided to go with a Macbook Air instead. We purchased an open box from Best Buy and she loves it. Much lighter weight than the HP 2-in-1 and it works!

I have owned my HP Split for about a year. I wish I had the benefit of reading the other posts before I purchased mine because my unit is plagued with the same problems as others have reported. It regularly needs hours of time after boot-up to respond to the touch-pad or touch-responsive screen, has terrible lag after bootup for any process for a variable amount of time, and during the lag, any process involving the speaker will generate the "buzzing" sound reported here, primarily due to the stuttering processing speed of the unit during the slow-down. I often resort to using my wife's Dell laptop to get any work done while the Split sits and remains unresponsive.

The worst laptop experience I've ever had. I bought it for the hybrid feature and the sleek design. But the machine just has too many problems, and has had them all along. The keyboard freezes constantly. Many times the cursor disappears altogether, and I have to restart or log off, and start over. It runs too slow. But, the biggest problem is that the machine doesn't want to turn on. I have to literally hold the power button down for 30 seconds or longer for it to respond. In less than a year, I'm having to send it back for repair, and am dreading the process. I don't have much hopes for it to get better at this point. Not worth the price, and definitely not worth all the headache.
