5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good
I have had this computer for about 8 months. It has performed flawlessly. I was a little worried at first because I never bought a computer from Amazon, but they delivered it in great time and shape. I have nothing negative to say. The touch screen is fun, but it does leave finger prints, that's the worst thing I can think of. It is fast and I have had no problems...

I've had the Touchsmart for over a month now and while do not regret settling for the AMD version, I sure would have liked the Intel one (pricier). The Touchsmart software doesn't run smoothly, it takes a while to load and sometimes does not work. The first days it would simply not work at all, but after I did a software update thru HP's system doctor suite, it improve, but still freezes sometimes.

In general, it's is not as the simulated images on TV or You Tube, it takes a while to load each program (videos, music, photos, canvas, etc) specially those media relates like music and photos (which was the whole idea of having the media computer after all). Once it's loaded it's fun to play with, to be fair.

My wife is satisfied with it, as her Photoshop and Illustrator run much better here than in the 6 year old computer that we had and the 21" LCD screen is beautiful and larger compared to our old CRT 15" monitor, plus the touch feature, which she really doesn't use.

I haven't been able to make it work with my LAN cable from the router, it is only using the wireless connection and somehow I think it could be faster if accessing the Internet through the cable, just a thought, probably wrong.

Windows 7 looks pretty much the same as Vista, which I have been using at the office for 2 years. But my Intel Centrino Toshiba Portege surely performs better.

Conclusion, I am glad I bought it, technology works great, sounds very good too, visual is a plus, much better than what I used to have at home, however, would like to confirm whether the 23" (which I don't) Intel version (Touchsmart 600) is worth the extra $500.

Will tell you more in a couple of months.

It is fast and I have had no problems connecting to wi-fi and bluetooth. I love that there are no wires accept for the power plug. It really cleans up the work area. Great product so far, as I said, so far so good!

4.0 out of 5 stars Futuristic Technology but with Issues, September 22, 2010
By
This review is from: HP TouchSmart 300-1025 20-Inch Black Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) (Personal Computers)
I purchased a few of these computers. This machine is very high tech, in looks and feel. I think that it is just a generation or two behind the computers that you would see in movies like Iron Man 2 and the Minority Report. It is pretty easy to set up, but I have found some issues with them:

[1] White Haze on Screen: this is a burn in problem with the screen. After 2 full days of running this haze will disappear.

[2] Limited upgradability - just like a laptop, you can only change the hard drive and the memory. To access these, there are 2 screws at the back (near the hinge of the rear support) that must be removed. Once these screws are out, the 2 back panels will slide out laterally.

[3] Be sure to turn off the mouse if you are not going to use the machine for a few days. Otherwise you can encounter connection problems when you go to use the machine again.

[4] If you encounter problems running games or graphics software, be sure to upgrade the drivers for the video card, this will greatly improve its speed and capability.

All in all these machines are great, just put them through the paces to make sure that they are free from defects, because a few duds may have slipped past the quality control department.

We are very pleased with the computer: Speed, ease of use, and the stuff packed in it are great. Windows 7 is the best part.

5.0 out of 5 stars HP Touchsmart 300-1025, July 4, 2011
This review is from: HP TouchSmart 300-1025 20-Inch Black Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) (Personal Computers)
HP TouchSmart 300-1025 20-Inch Black Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) I purchased this computer in Feb. of 2011 and so far it has been an excellent computer, touchscreen works great even my grandson who is only 2 years has fun with it on Youtube, I replaced the wireless mouse because it was a little slow and the wireless keyboard because the keys were a little flimsy but all in all it has been very good. I like the no-wires format that leaves no clutter on the desk. The TV Tuner works good too, I use it instead of a tv in my computer room. Wifi also works, I also have a HP Wireless printer which works excellent with this computer. I am looking to buy another HP Touchsmart 300 computer for the household computer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent home pc, bought two, November 28, 2010

This review is from: HP TouchSmart 300-1025 20-Inch Black Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) (Personal Computers)
For Christmas 2009 I bought my wife a Touchsmart 300-1025 and it has worked great. The screen has a vibrant picture, it has almost every option that the typical user would want, and includes the touch-screen interface. Everything works well. The only complaints: somewhat sluggish response speed on some HP touch applicationsand the absence of a blu-ray player/burner.

My 13-year-old son liked it so much that I got him one for graduation when his (self-purchased) Compaq laptop became undependable. He uses it for school, browsing, and game-playing and has become an enthusiastic user.

Now, a year later, my wife still loves it. I just hooked up a tv antenna so now she has a tv set in the kitchen that gets a great picture from over-the-air broadcasts.

For under $900, this is a remarkable system and uses up little real estate. Unless you need to add your own components or just like fiddling around inside the case, this full-featured system is an excellent choice.

honestly, I do not know if the problem would be the computer or Windows 7. while working, happens very often the applications freeze

almost 100% of the time, when turning it off, becomes necessary to force shutting down of some aplications.

I had some more expectations, but, anyway, it is nice to play with the touchscreen, even tough it is not pratical to be used as a work tool.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, April 4, 2010

Unit works OK, good picture w/ TV or internet, however, it is not a green product. If I don't shut it off it goes on & off all by itself day & night, the screen is so bright, which uses a lot of power. It makes a humming noise which is a problem since it's in my bedroom. I also have the larger model & it has the same problems even when I turn off the wireless mouse as indicated by HP. The touch screen doesn't work well, I just use the mouse. Overall I'd buy it again because I don't see any better units on the market.

3.0 out of 5 stars Again, be an informed buyer..., December 20, 2009

This review is from: HP TouchSmart 300-1025 20-Inch Black Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) (Personal Computers)
I have had the 300-1025 for a week now and it is a great family computer even though I bought it just for my own use. All of the photos online including the stock HP pictures show this specific model (300-1025) with the ambient lighting turned on and the on/off switch seen from the left side of the PC. The cover of the User's Guide that came with it even shows it glowing between the monitor and the speakers where they install this feature. This may sound no more than a trivial complaint but it was a selling point for me when I have to type in low lighting conditions in the evening or morning hours. Buyers note: This feature is only available on the 600 series which has a 23" screen.

Given the "fun factor" of a computer that draws quite a bit of attention from the touch screen, whether functional as described above or just mood lighting, how hard would it have been to include this when spending around $1000.00 or more on a PC?

As far as advertising it is quite simple...if it's not included then don't show it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Computer Great, Windows 7 causing some problems, January 29, 2010

This review is from: HP TouchSmart 300-1025 20-Inch Black Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) (Personal Computers)
We have no problem with the computer so far. Service and delivery from Amazon was great, We are first time Amazon buyers. Our friend talked us into trying it. It was hard to throw away the additional $150 it would have cost to buy the same model at Best Buy.

My only problem is this, several websites and portals that we interface with for my husband's work and children's school have not upgraded to interface with Windows 7. We have literally had to set up our old computer next to this new one to access the sites that will not interact with the new computer. No fault of HP or the computer but still a real bummer!!!!
