I got a HP laptop and since I need a wireless mouse, I decide to get this one. I wasn't expecting much from this mouse. However, after using it for 3 weeks, I find this mouse to be very convenient to use.
The mouse got a very responsive laser sensor and work on most of the surface. I use it on Glass table, wooden table, and on the couch. It doesn't not work too well on couch but I have no problem using it on other surface. The mouse has a few dotted bit on the scroll wheel and it helps a lot in scrolling. It gives me control of my scrolling speed and it is very useful when I am reading an e-document. I got a 13inch notebook without a CD-rom, so I was worried that I might not be able to properly install the mouse driver. But it work as soon as I plug in its USB radio receiver. Now I am using it without touching its driver and I don't have any problem with it. Manual said two extra buttons on the mouse can be configure to launch programs if the driver is installed. But without the driver, the buttons can be used to go back and forth in webpage. Now for the downside I am 5'7" small Asian man,And I got a small hand. I need to take off some chain links in a watch every time I buy a new watch. So I am sure you can guess how small my hand are. Having said that, this mouse is very small in my hand. I am glad that I bought this for surfing internet with my laptop on the road and not playing games at home. But its price beat all in my option.

Good but not perfect...,

I've been using this for several months now.
The big selling point for me was the tiny USB receiver. I leave it plugged in to my netbook continuously. Another thing that's important is long battery life. I have yet to replace the battery and I leave it on 24/7. What I don't like is the placement of the left side button. It sits to far forward and I have to reposition my thumb to press it. The middle scroll wheel is noisy and not very smooth. Also, the HP mouse software offers few features or customization. I actually uninstalled the HP software and downloaded a free utility called X-Mouse. That alone made a huge improvement. The X-Mouse utility offers much more than HP's utility does and it's lite on resources. Overall I like this mouse better than the Logitech's that I've used. The HP laser mouse is a good value for around twenty bucks.

This product is awesome!!! The pointer moves very fast. The tiny USB receiver is great. I don't even notice it plugged in the laptop. You also have settings in the software which you can program different things. (Like how fast you want the scroll wheel to move) I recommend this product 100% so far.

I'm growing increasingly annoyed with this mouse because I'm finding it extremely imprecise. At first it was so fast I had to change the pointer speed on my laptop (the mouse software has options to change other things, but not the pointer speed so I had to change it for the mouse and touchpad, which is useless now because it's so slow). And still it goes past whatever I'm trying to click unless I move it really really slowly towards it. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, the blue LED is never on.
I also don't like the bumps on the scroll wheel. After a long session of online browsing it actually hurt my finger and I imagined if I used it enough I'd get a callous from it. That said, the mouse is really nice looking and I love love love the side buttons that with a click allow you to go back or forward a page (you can change the function of these with the software). I also love the tiny usb. But the scrolling is so frustrating I don't know how much longer I'll be using the mouse. UPDATE 9/9/11: It's been almost a year and a half (wow) since I got this and I'm still using it. I don't know if I got used to it or what but I kinda like it now and feel bad that I was so mean to it before. I still don't like that the speed issue makes it so that if I want to use the touchpad navigating is extremely slow because I had to speed up the settings so the hp mouse would work accurately. But the side buttons are so great I find myself pushing phantom side buttons on other mice when I'm using other computers. And it's so small that I just move it around on the space next to the touchpad; no mousepad needed and I can use it when I'm sitting in bed. I do have tiny hands, so I can't say how it would feel for my large-handed friends but it's perfect for me. Recommended! And I added 2 more stars.

I have large hands and this is perfect. I was a little worried that it may be too small when it arrives like i said I love it and the dongle does not protrude out from my laptop. This is a totaly worry free wireless mouse.

My wife (small hands) and myself (big hands) both like this mouse. The USB plug is small enough to always leave in the laptop, (or you can store the USB adapter into the bottom of the mouse when not needed)

I am pleased with this mouse. I own two of the confusingly similarly named HP Comfort Mobile Mouse and find little discernible difference other than this mouse is roughly $6 less expensive. In fact one of my two more expensive mice has an intermittent problem with the left button click; I have had no such problem with the Eco-Comfort mouse. The tiny USB receiver is discreet to view, and can remain in the socket even when my laptop is placed in a backpack. I really can't comment on the range of the receiver as I haven't used the mouse at more than a foot or two from the laptop. The mouse can be comfortably palmed in my large hand, yet it is small enough to fit nicely into a pouch on my backpack. This fairly inexpensive mouse has impressed me with its accuracy on any of the varied surfaces I have placed it on, even next to me on the arm of a fabric covered chair.
I will certainly buy a second unit, however I will wait until it is once again offered directly by Amazon, as it was when I first purchased it in June 2010. No offense to the current vendor (In and Out Computers) but I'm not laying out an additional shipping charge that is more than ¼ the item price; avoiding stuff like that is why I subscribe to Amazon Prime.

This product was a choice of a two day reviewing process of other products. I seen this mouse on the first day of searching because this seemed to be the right one. The scroll wheel feels so smooth it was unreal to me. I guess that is one of my nerdy ways of how a computer mouse should feel and look before i make a decision. The buttons on the left and right of the sides of the mouse work excellent, they will not only go back and forth a page on the web but it will also work when you are working with folders on your desktop. The grib bumps on the scroll wheel is really helpful i think. The design allows the hand to sit comfortably without you're wrist feeling awkward. And i constantly use it because i am in an advertising and graphic design program, and this item just feels smooth.
Design - 5/5 Ability - 5/5 Battery Life - 5/5 If you have any other questions about this product, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I saw this mouse at a retail store for twice the price. I purchased this one because it's made from 30% recycled plastic and will prevent global warming.
But seriously, I got it because the USB thingy is so small, I can leave it in full time. What was not apparent to me from the pictures is that the USB thingy can be stored IN the mouse next to the battery. Another plus. I am not thrilled with the tire-like wheel and its clunky rolling. I did not install the software and probably won't. The thing has all 5 buttons programmed as it is (left, right, left side, right side, wheel). The side buttons are, by default, 'back' and 'forward.' But, all in all, it's good for the price.

This product did NOT work as advertised. It was supposed to work on any surface and it worked on none of them.Even with a mouse pad it was jerky and jumpy taking repeated trys to get the cursor to the correct spot. Finally I gave up and purchased a different make and it's a better product,by far - Microsoft.
