1.0 out of 5 stars Factory faulty product. BEWARE, February 27, 2009
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HP iPAQ 614c Business Navigator - QuadBand - UNLOCKED (Electronics)
I must confess this is one of the worst items I have purchased in my life. I am sure, this particular unit was faulty the day it left the factory. I got this device on Feb 16, 2009 and uptil today (Feb 27), it has never booted properly. It gets held up midway and then no button works. If I keep fondling with its buttons during booting, it boots up. After booting up when it goes into standby mode after 1 minute, it again freezes. Moreover, if I put any MicroSD card, it never boots up even after playing around with the buttons. I understand its OS is corrupted or malfunctioned. I have tried to get the updates from HP web site, but nothing seems to work. I am highly disgusted and feel like tossing it out of the window. But alas, I have spent $400 on it.
To top it all the Customer service is downright incompetent and negligent. Some 10 days have passed since I e-mail the HP people and have still not received a single reply. Telephonic conversation with some expatriat having a peculiar non-American accent is absolutely useless. I can't understand what he says.
Since I live in Pakistan, it seems I am stuck with this Lemon. HP Chat troubleshooting only tells me to send it back to the US. Actually I bought this online, shipped it to my friends address in MI. He travelled to Pakistan and I got the device.
I have gone to various discussion forums on the web and have found these problems are also faced by some other customers too. VERY POOR QUALITY CONTROL OF HP. FORGET ABOUT CUSTOMER SUPPORT IN THE US.

1.0 out of 5 stars A hope with HP turns out in to a nightmare, February 12, 2009
This review is from: HP iPAQ 614c Business Navigator - QuadBand - UNLOCKED (Electronics)
I was one the customers to order when it was launched, I paid $749 premium. I was hoping to end all my disappointments with my previous cellphones with this "promising" "smart phone"...

From the very first moment to take it on your palm , you realize have anti-unfriendly is this phone. There tons of buttons on the phone surface and screen, most of the function have at least three buttons or screen shortcuts are for the same purpose. But this is the least annoying. I am not going list every single of them here because it is not to test and inform HP precursors for their flaws...

Other most important weakness is spotting and connecting the wi-fi spots. You have to go through a very complicated pages and options to to get wi fi connections. Even if you do so, every time you have do this again again ana again because the "smart phone" is nit smart enough to memorize the network and passwords.

And I will also mention one of the worst one which is phone function. HP separated this function so you can continue to work on your "smartphone" right?
Wrong!
Sometimes (at least twice a day) the phone function because it looses the the signal reception it turns off. And you think when the reception is good it turns on again. Right? WRONG... this "smart phone" is so smart that it forgets its first function is supposedly to be a mobile phone ... which means it does not turn ON again... so unless you don't check your phone every ten min. if it is on or off you do not realize that it turned OFF without your permitting or alarming you. Not to mention here the people who are trying to reach you yelling you because your phone was off and you were dispirit to try to convince them no it was not...

Here is the best part:
After six months of disappointment the phone compliantly gone. I don't know why put it to ti's service than they billed me $537 to change the mother broad... What ?
How about the Warranty?
Noop, it is user fault.
Now I am in legal action against HP to force them to full fill their trade agreement.
But if you ask me if You would buy this? I would say run without looking back... And don't stop....!
