This is a great accessory for an HP printer. Just this morning I printed a 28-page KB article on my now equipped `HP Officejet 7210 All-in-One'...so compact! And when I staple & open it up I get to see 2 printed pages instead of one, a very handy feature when working & reading in close quarters (airplanes, subways, etc).

Where does it fit on to your printer? Have a look around the back side of your HP and you will find a big plastic cover there. That cover comes off and this most nifty device inserts with a click, with all but 2 inches (5 cm) installing inside the printer for a secure, built-in look. Hang on to that cover, though, as it allows the printer to print without the duplexer if for some reason you need to.

Duplex (two-sided) printing is a little slower than printing single sided as the printer briefly pauses a few seconds to allow the ink to dry between sides, but well worth the convenience of the double-sided print, at least for me. And of course installing the device does not remove the option to print single sided as before.

It's always a good idea to double check compatibility of your HP printer with any accessory by visiting HP's web site, where a quick search for `duplexer' in `Home and Home Office' reveals several offerings, along with a support number for further questions. Click `Accessories' in the search result to nail down these specific devices and their compatibility lists.

This device is well worth the added capability to most any printer installation. Truly plug & play. Five stars.

If you want to save paper or not have bulky text projects, this duplexer is for you.It automatically prints on both sides
of your paper once you set it. But beware where you buy it from. Amazon might be somewhat higher in price, but at least they ship it to you in a very reasonable time. Whereas Buy.com will take your order and ship it to you (with a phony tracking number) whenever they want (2-3 weeks).

Received it within a very short time, works great for what I need. Perfect.

Product was very easy to install. My wife works from home and she has saved substantially on paper from two-sided printing. Sheets don't get stuck. Product pays by itself.

What can I say? Plug it in, and it works. Now I have the option to print on both sides from my notebook on my wireless network.

If you're unsure if this is the duplexer for your printer, simply call HP customer service and ask them. I had a Devil of a time finding the needed part number on the net (my printer was not on the list of compatable printers), but was able to covfirm that this was the correct part in five minutes on the phone.

A bit expensive, but handy for printing out huge PDF files on less paper.

I didn't realize how much time (or paper) a duplexer could save you! While you can manually print on both sides with any printer, having this unit makes the process painless and automated. If only my unit didn't squeak when running!

In March 2004, I purchased a HP 7210 All-In-One Printer. Many, many times I wished I had afterwards ordered the ph5712 duplexer as I kept seeing all the paper I was using in my print jobs. Finally, this month I ordered one through Amazon.com and quickly received it. Installation was simple - just push in the tabs on the back cover plate to remove it; then just push in the two tabs on the sides fo the duplexer and snap the unit in the empty space. I am so pleased with it!!!!

I bought this because the printer that I had been using failed after many years of good service and the duplexer from that unit was not compatible (useable) with my new HP printer. There was a minor software (driver issue) but the unit has worked as advertised since the driver issue was resolved.

I have an HP AIO 7280 which came with the duplexer. That works great. I also have a Photosmart 8450 which did not come with the duplexer. In researching the potential to get one, I find this product which claims to be compatible. I quickly purchased it. Very easy to install. THe HP software for this printer immediately picked up the fact that duplex printing is enabled. So I tried printing a two-page document. Duplexer worked fine - mechanically. The only issue is that the second page printed upside down. In reviewing this on the Internet, I find this is apparently a common problem. In calling HP support, I was fortunate enough to speak to someone who was more interested in getting my email address than helping me with the issue, which is still occurring.
Bottom line, check the Internet to see if your printer has issues with this accessory (or 'Accessoory' as the HP User Guide calls it).

This item don't fit my printer.I buy in a hurry and don't read the compatibility note. I'm going to try to sell it locally.Sorry and thanks.
