NOT fully compatible with all models of laptop,
This review is from: HQRP 90W AC Adapter for Dell Inspiron (Electronics)
I bought this adapter to replace my old one from Dell with a breaking cord, and saw that it was listed as being compatible with my existing laptop. When it arrived and I plugged it in, I got an error stating that it was detected as a 65W adapter, and that speed would be reduced! The CPU is being clocked down to 800mhz when it's plugged in! Even on battery the speed increases back up to the full 1.6ghz but this adapter will not let my computer run full speed.Customer support from Osprey-Talon was friendly a pretty quick (all through email) and gave me a partially refund but could not fix this. I did choose to keep it rather than return for a full refund because at least I can charge the computer and run off of battery, or use the slow speed for some things like email. It's not a problem with my adapter - my computer model (Dell Inspiron 9300) apparently cannot recognize it as being a 90W adapter. It don't know which other models it works with, but not mine, even though it's on the listing. Do not get this if you need a real 90W adapter! It will cut your CPU in half!

Dell's power supplies stink. I've gone through at least 1 per year for the last 3 years that I've had this laptop. Well I'm done spending a small fortune on over priced Dell equipment. So I ordered this charger for $20.Pros: It works perfectly. It seems better constructed and has a better cord wrap than the Dell's (which always seemed to break or fall off). Cons: When you first use the charger with your Dell it will tell you that is might not work. This is complete B.S. In my case, it gave me the ability to tell it to never show me that message again. My laptop and battery life are just fine. Dell just put in those B.S. messages to scare people into buying their over-priced crap! Is this really a con? No. It just scares some people when they see that message. I like this so much that I'm buying a few more. I have an older Dell model that uses the same power supply. I can buy 3 or 4 of these before it gets to be about the same price as the Dell power supply. I can have one just to keep in my laptop backpack, one in my office, and one in the den. Then I still have 2 left over for my old laptop so I can hook it up in my son's room and also have one left over for when we travel. Hey Dell! You know where you can stick your power supplies now right? :)

Bought as a travel cord for my E1505 so I could leave an adaptor wired into my home office. No problems with seller and the cord works as advertised. Sometimes when I boot up plugged in I get a warning from my computer about using an aftermarket adaptor, but I haven't noticed a performance hit. MUCH cheaper than going through Dell. Mousepad is junk, but the adaptor's fine.

My original Dell adapter was starting to fray at the connector. Tried this adapter because it was much less expensive than ordering a replacement from Dell. Seems to work well with no issues.I'd be tempted to just replace the connector on my original charger, except that it's a funky connector I can't seem to find. ** Update 8/7/09 A couple months later, still working fine, so I'm going to order a second one to keep downstairs so I don't have to keep moving the charger back and forth.

I bought this adapter sometime in June due to a mishap with my original adapter. I received it fairly quickly, and it definitely gets the job done. However, I do notice that at times it doesn't want to charge my battery because it's not a Dell product. I don't know that I'd necessarily blame the product for this issue or if I'd blame Dell for this issue. In any case, it usually works just fine to charge the battery, and it always works to run the laptop via electric. I definitely recommend this product if you need a more economical alternative to the Dell replacement adapter.

Dell Inspiron 9300 - Good As New,

Got this AC adapter as a replacement for the one on my Dell Inspiron 9300. Putting it simply, it worked. No 65W warnings, it came up looking like a 95W adapter. I am happy! Not only that. but the cord is a nice workable length, and the adapter itself is a little lighter and runs a little cooler than the original one.

I have a dell inspiron 6400. this charger is GREAT! it has already lasted longer than my two previous DELL chargers...(one that came with it and another). Its lighter, feels cheap, but doesnt get as hot and works just the same....Sometimes i worry the thing will blow up cuz its made in China... but it hasnt yet. other than the occasional worry that itll explode, i wouldnt know why you would pay more for a Dell one when this is just as good( i think )

The stock AC adapter that came with my Inspiron E1405 was 65W and had flimsy wiring and 2 prongs. It quit after about 2 years. This one is 90 Watts, 3-prongs, and sturdy long wires. It worked great with my laptop. I recommend it for any laptop.

My entire Dell power system failed over this year. First I had to replace the battery, and afterwards, the power supply would intermittently stop working. After reading about problems that Dell was having with this generation of adapters, I decided to get a third party replacement. The HQRP 90W AC Adapter works great on my Dell e1505. Thinking about the problems I've had over the past year, I wish I had gotten this before - it was certainly cheap enough (approx $25). One thing - the light on the e1505 that shows it is charging to does not turn on when the HQRP adapter is turned on. But windows shows the battery is charging, and my battery has been working as good as ever. I suspect Dell has some custom system (no, not Dell) that HQRP is not 100% compatible with, but again, real world, this had not had an affect. I agree with the another reviewer, I'm likely to order another HQRP adapter just to have one both floors of my house. Recommended.

This adapter works to power my Dell E1505 fine but does not charge the battery. This is the secound time I'm having to buy another AC adapter becuase all of the past ones seem to burn out fairly easy and litteratly fall apart. This AC adapter does "claim" to have a over-current, over-voltage, over-power, and short-circuit protection feature though which brings my hopes up slightly.. Although the Adapter does NOT charge my battery, I'm going to keep it becuase i see through several reviews of other adapters that the problem with not charging the battery presists still. I did hear though that in order to charge your Dell Battery, the AC adapter must have a certain chip that allows the adapter to communicate with the computer and only certain some adapters have that. I am certain that this one does not have it though.
