I've had my Dell Inspiron E1505 for just over two years, and this is the third power cord I've had to get for it.
I bought this a few weeks ago when I finally accepted the fact my last one was dead. I ordered this is and it showed up a week earlier than expected! Just in time for vacation, Thank gosh I didn't have to bring my Acer Aspire One. It works great! Fits into my computer perfectly, I definitely recommend this cord to anyone with a dell 1505.

I'm on my third power adapter for my Dell Inspiron E1505, just over 2 years old. This adapter is less than a month old. After a couple of weeks, I started getting the Dell Power Adapter error message, saying it doesn't recognize the adapter, the battery will not charge, and so on. From posts on the Dell community forum, this problem is usually with the socket in the computer, not the power adapter, and using a Dell adapter may not solve the problem either. I can make mine charge by wiggling the connector but it's not easy and probably won't continue to work. The Dell forum says the soldering on the socket is not strong enough and the tiny wire inside the socket gets worn or bent. They recommend buying an external battery charger and charging the battery that way. You can continue to use the power adapter to run the computer on AC, but socket repairing can be expensive. The shop here wants to replace the entire motherboard, which includes the socket, for $250. No thanks. I'd rather put the money into a different brand of laptop.

I hope this helps someone else. It's frustrating, but my problem is with Dell, not the Osprey-Talon adapter.

When I started using this as a replacement adpapter for my Dell Inspiron 8600 after my original broke, I got a screen that said," AC POWER ADAPTER TYPE CANNOT BE DETERMINED. THIS WILL PREVENT OPTIMAL SYSTEM PERFORMANCE" The computer will start but the battery does not charge it just runs off ac power. My battery is drained so as soon as I unplug the adapter the computer shuts down. Also, the computer runs very slow now. Videos don't work, internet is slow, cursor is slow to react. I'm just going to buy a replacement from Dell like I should have done in the first place.

The Dell AC adapter for my Inspiron 6000 stopped working, in that it would power the laptop while plugged in but would not charge the battery. It also became very finicky and would lose contact at random times. The laptop would pop up with warnings like "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or higher for best system operation." I ordered this adapter and Voila! The battery is charging and no more warning message. Not bad for less than half the price of a Dell replacement adapter.

I recently bought a HQRP 65W Heavy-Duty AC Adapter for Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop and was really disappointed because the product did not recognized by my Dell Ispiron E1505 laptop even though the product description said it should work for my laptop. The quality of the product looks really poor! So I ended up purchasing another AC adapter from [...] instead. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!!

I could not find an appropriate power adapter cord for my Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop so turned to Amazon. Fortunately I found this listing. The adapter is not only significantly cheaper than the Dell adapters, it is more resilient, reliable, and longer. The adapter arrived immediately. I am relieved to have my laptop up and running again. I recommend this product...forget about Dell!!

It's been said here and I'll say it again: This item powers the laptop, and prevents the battery from draining any more, but it does not charge the battery. At all.

Whether this is Dell's doing to get you to buy from them or this charger not being sufficient is impossible to determine, but it does not do everything it says it does for Dell laptops.

Regardless, in my case, I just needed a charger to keep the laptop running until I buy a new one next year. I don't use it on battery since it's so heavy (E1505) and I injured my back at work, so it does what I need it to do, which is allow my laptop to be a desktop. It wasn't worth the hassle of trying to get them to send me 5 or 6 chargers that wont charge the battery since Dell probably designed it that way, so if you need a battery charger/AC adapter, save up the extra money and buy a real one from Dell.

It should be noted to anyone and everyone, however, that this item does not do everything that it claims to do or was designed to do, and for that, 3 stars are gone. I'd make it one, but it does in fact let you use the laptop without a battery, so it deserves from credit for that.

Questions, comments or concerns: leave a comment here and I'll get back to you, I need distractions from my school work.

Dell had to replace my original transformer/cord shortly after I bought the laptop. Their replacement didn't last very long, either, so I decided to purchase elsewhere. This transformer/cord WORKS with my laptop, and I am very happy. I am hoping that it continues to do it's job. Time will tell, but I am certainly happy with this purchase thusfar.
