HSM "Got the Moves" Dance Mat

I bought this toy for my 6 year old cousin (girl). I admit, i didnt really know anything about High School Musical besides that she was crazy about it. She was extremely excited about the gift and set it up immediately. It took about an hour for her to get the hang of it, and i was extremely surprised to see how long she stuck with it...but after a while she had all of her friends over and they were holding these little "competitions" with each other and having a great time. The toy definitely takes some patience, but the parents seemed to be impressed that the children actually read the directions and worked together cooperatively and ended up having a blast. I highly recommend this toy!

This mat does essentially nothing and its misleading to suggest that it teaches the kids the dances from HSM. There's a little box at the front of the mat which has lights on it that correspond to circles on the mat. Songs from the movie play through a tinny speaker on the box while the lights go on and off. The kid is supposed to step on the correct spots on the mat as the lights on the box go on and off. This is a long way from a dance lesson. I was very disappointed for my daughters, aged 4 and 7, who got this as a reward for chores and good behavior. They love HSM but they certainly weren't impressed or excited with this rip-off!

We bought this for our 6-year-old and 4-year-old daughters for Christmas adn they love it. I'm not sure that our 4-year-old is able to follow the concept of stepping on the colored circle that matches the light that lights up on the little top computerized part. She just likes the music and dances to it, which is ok too. Our 6-year-old follows the lights and likes to learn dances, so she will dance for a long time and then show us her dance without the mat. It's cute. I honestly thought for some reason that this would come with a DVD or something with dance steps for them to follow, but it doesn't. Not sure why I expected that.

I got this dancemat for my 6 year old daughter for Christmas. She had never had dancemat before. She loves it and dances on it all the time. Her twin brother also dances on it too, although would never let his friends know. My older kids have also danced on it (I tried it out too) and we all had a blast with it! It's easy to figure out and seems durable, ours still works great! I think there are five different songs from HSM3. There is a volume control, you have 2 levels of volume to choose from. You can also change songs with your feet as well as 'pause' if you're in the middle of a song. Fun toy and great workout!

The product is called HSM II Dance Mat, which is what we received, but the color of the background is actually a blueish color (to look like the pool/summer of HSM II). The picture shows a red background (as though it was for HSM I). The music is very very fun for our 5 year old daughter - and our 18 month old son also dances along.

Bought this as a Christmas gift, but didn't "gift" it yet. Will let you know, when I do. :)
