4.0 out of 5 stars nice but...
I prefer to spend more money on mobile bases that fit specific machines. No assembly hassles and 1 piece solid construction.
If my wife let me have more time I'd just mig weld my own frames together, and use GOOD wheels.
That's my only complaint. That front locking wheel is one of the cheapest wheels for the purpose. This particular piece of equipment gets moved...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very solid,but.....
I have this base for my jointer and it is very fluid on movement, very well put together. The one and only problem is that it takes an unnessisarily immense amount of effort to lock the wheels ( i finally had to resort to a pair of huge channellocks-not a good idea for plastic knobs)The weight of the machine appearantly is the cause of this.

That's my only complaint. That front locking wheel is one of the cheapest wheels for the purpose. This particular piece of equipment gets moved round in my shop alot. Locking and unlocking is erksome but I can live with it for awhile longer.
What I'm inclined to do is buy a better wheel and on my next mobile base purchase just get some better wheels to upgrade during the assembly process.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not perfect, May 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: HTC HSJ-678 Mobile Base for Jet JJ-6CS 6-Inch Jointer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I did not have the problem locking the base down the way the other reviewers did. But one must note that this base is not an exact fit for the Jet 6" jointer. The machine "swims" a couple of inches on the base, which can obviously be a problem when putting pressure on the tool. I solved this by drilling through the Jet flanges right through the base and bolting the unit to the base with short Hex bolts with washers and nuts. Now it's very solid.

2.0 out of 5 stars Quite displeased, April 28, 2004

After spending nearly $100 for this base, I am quite disappointed. First, the axle bolts had fine threads and the base was coarse threaded. I had to strip the threads on the axle bolts to get the wheels on. The 'brake' system is a joke, as other reviewers have noted. The swivel caster hides under a tongue flange, making it impossible to lock "with your toe" as the manual suggests. I compare this to the Delta universal base under my table saw, which has a wonderful "step on - tap off" locking mechanism that is always readily available. As noted, even though this is sold specifically for the JJ6 jointer, it does not fit. Through bolting is required for real stability. If you only move your jointer to get to something behind it, you may be pleased. If, like me, you have to store your tools in a corner and roll them out and lock them down when needed, you won't be pleased. But, the jointer is a dream.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid mobile base, March 16, 2006
This review is from: HTC HSJ-678 Mobile Base for Jet JJ-6CS 6-Inch Jointer (Tools & Home Improvement)
Quality mobile base and easy to assemble. The only thing I added
was a 3/16" thick rubber mat that my 6" jointer sit's on. I feel
this helps cut down on some vibration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well made, but....., June 30, 2002

This is a strong, well fitted-out mobile base, with one exception - the knobs provided for locking the two wheels are inadequate to do the job! I had to replace them with two plastic star-shaped 1/4 X 20 knobs before I could exert sufficient pressure on the locking brakes to securely lock the base.

Easy assembly. Mobile base moves equipment easily. Good quality; bought the mobile base for the table saw and bandsaw as well.

This fits my Jet JJ-66CS very well. It is a very strong and sturdy frame. My only complaint is my base didn't come with instructions. However, the base is simple to put together and only couple a couple extra minutes of thinking and fitting. The back wheels lock tightly and the front wheel locks good enough.

As others have noted the front wheel could be better, but overall well pleased.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stand is good quality, but Install Instructions are poor, May 31, 2008
This review is from: HTC HSJ-678 Mobile Base for Jet JJ-6CS 6-Inch Jointer (Tools & Home Improvement)
Install instructions are not written well with poor graphics. Received floor stop assembly and nowhere in the install instructions did it explain where to but the stop or to even install it. Went to HTC website to look at the mobile base picture and there I saw where it is attached. Instructions need to be rewritten.

5.0 out of 5 stars easy slider, April 21, 2008
This review is from: HTC HSJ-678 Mobile Base for Jet JJ-6CS 6-Inch Jointer (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a heavy duty, well built base. It makes a jointer a much more useful tool by allowing you to store it out of the way when you don't need it. Jointers are in that category of indispensable tools, but not a tool that is used too often. The jointer would not have been worth the price if I couldn't move it around. This mobil base is kinda high priced, but worth it.
