I didn't even bother to use the manual. Just opened it up, connected it to a hdmi cable (supplied, but any will do), then I attached my own usb cable and attached the other end to a usb port on my tv. The usb port is only used for charging purposes though. A usb cable and a 1A usb charger is also supplied. After plugging everything in, I didn't even need to turn the device on. I just swiped 3 fingers upward on my HTC One and it connected and everything just worked.

Now, it uses WIFI to connect to the HTC One. At first I thought that by connecting the the Media Link, my phone won't be able to access the wifi router at home, but lo and behold, it was able to stream to the Media Link while still connect to my wifi router and access the internet. I don't know if the HTC One has two tranceivers, or if the HTC Link has two. Regardless, everything just worked.

It killed me to spend this much on a convenience product. I mean i could have easily just bought a really long HDMI cord and a micro USB attachment to do almost the same thing at a fraction of the price. I'm still trying to find a trick to make the darn thing work before having to return it. I REALLY want it to work but no such luck yet. I only works if it is within 5 feet of the phone! I see no point in paying to have a device be wireless if you have to be within 5 feet of the device. What gives?! It's like buying a cordless phone that you must stay within 5 feet to talk on. It makes whatever you're viewing lag super bad! It's like watching a DVD that just skips so badly that it won't even play the movie. When it is working at all (when device is sitting right next to phone) it is way behind. Everything showing up on phone is so many seconds behind it's impossible to follow. Sound is lagged so badly you can't even tell where what sound is coming from. Save your money! If I find a way to make it work I'll re-post. Quality otherwise isn't too great either; very cheap feeling, has no indicator whether it is on or off, doesn't hold charge long at all. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble. I was very sad because I was so excited to receive and use this device.

This device works great. There can be a bit of an audio delay when streaming a 1080p movie, but I realized that pretty much disappears if you plug in the charger while using it. I use an HTC One Max, and I'd highly recommend the HTC Media Streamer to anybody. As a person who deals with smartphones for a living, it actually impressed me. Also, The Walking Dead game looks awesome on a tv. Try it out if you get this.

The discription says that you can watch movies...well you better make sure your screen doesn't turn off because then you have to reconnect to the media link and restart the movie. This might not be the case if you use the proprietary HTC movie and music player, but I like Netflix and pandora. You can also not use your phone while you are watching netflix or pandora or youtube.. Once you try to get out of the linked connection it cuts off the program.

Also the vide is often jerky, even the music does not stream well. I have a newer wireless router and the largest cable internet plan you can buy, so it has to be something with the HTC connection.

This is a fun little toy, but it has a long way to go before it is a useful tool.

No longer stuck at my PC computer desk or squinting on my smartphone. Enjoy streaming videos and downloaded movies and hi-fidelity music in your living room with the whole family. It's like infinite-channel tv, but I can still surf the web and make and receive phone calls. And all our cellphones are compatible, so we can all use it.

I have a 20 mb internet, but I got a lot of flutter and halts with the device. not very pleased with its performance, and it certainly was too expensive, compared to alternatives.

Very good, it worked well with my HTC one, the only thing is I have to connect 3G/4G for the link before WiFi.
