Amazon.com Product Description

An ultra slim Pocket PC phone with a built-in QWERTY keyboard, the HTC S620 is the ideal device to keep you in touch when out of the office. Writing e-mails, texting, taking notes and writing documents, or performing spreadsheet calculations is quicker and easier thanks to the intuitive interface and easy-to-hold design. The S620 also comes with all the standard Microsoft Mobile applications, including Internet Explorer, Pocket MS, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

The HTC S620 comes loaded with a host of connectivity options to choose from. Sporting Bluetooth 2.0 technology, the S620 provides easy connectivity to headsets, car kits, and more. Connect to the Internet using its Wi-Fi 802.11b/g capability, and use applications such as Skype for convenient voice-over-IP calling, or simply connect to your cellular network for standard voice calls or data transfer over the supported high-speed EDGE network (carrier data charges apply).

Design
Under the hood, you'll find a super fast (200 MHz) Texas Instruments OMAP 850 processor, and 64 MB of RAM--plenty of speed to keep the S620 running your favorite applications smoothly. With a full QWERTY thumb pad just below the screen and plenty of keys for your favorite functions and applications, the S620 is designed for easy use. You'll enjoy fast access to your Outlook calendar, contacts, and key phone functions. Alternatively, the device can be directly controlled with an included stylus. For further operational maneuvering, the included "HTC JOGGR" interface makes viewing documents, browsing web pages or searching through menus fast and simple. Lastly, a SecureDigital (SD) card slot is located the side of the device, allowing you to expand memory to your needs.

The S620's large 2.4 inch QVGA display supports up to 65,000 colors and the Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC operating system is completely touchscreen-enabled. The screen also features advanced handwriting recognition that is compatible with all of the device's applications. The rear of the unit houses a 1.3 megapixel camera, and lastly, when you need to discreetly fulfill your musical desires, there's a convenient audio jack (combined with an 11-pin mini-USB port) located on the bottom of the S620.

Calling Features
Many of the S620's calling features are integrated with the Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphones operating system. For instance, the included Pocket Outlook software features a contacts list that is cleverly combined with the phone's dialing functions. Meanwhile, the phone's handwriting recognition software can be used to dial numbers and enter contact information. Lastly, the device's Bluetooth connectivity makes it easy to sync the unit with a wide range of handsfree, wireless headsets and car kits.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The S620 is designed as a complete mobile office solution, so Internet and messaging capabilities are robust. The unit comes packed with pocket versions of Outlook and Internet Explorer. In addition to keeping track of contacts, Pocket Outlook features integrated calendar and email functions. Microsoft's ActiveSync software keeps the device synced with all of your PC's Outlook information (via USB or Bluetooth connection). In addition to Outlook/Exchange Server email connectivity, the S620 fully supports basic text messaging, as well as multimedia messaging (MMS).

Need to check your email or look up a something on the Web while on-the-go? Use the S620's Wi-Fi 802.11b/g capability to connect to the Internet at blazing speeds. The S620 also supports data transfer over the EDGE high-speed network.

A generous toolset ships with the S620's Windows Mobile 5.0 software. Pocket Outlook includes to-do lists while smartphone versions of Word and Excel are included so you can review documents on the go. A calculator, an alarm clock, and a voice memo recorder round out the tools package.

Imaging and Entertainment
Using the S620's integrated media functions, you can store digital music files and easily exchange them with your PC. The included Windows Media Player application can also play videos for even more mobile entertainment. When the feeling strikes you, use the built-in 3-in-1 speaker to play your favorite stored music. Meanwhile, you can use the device's 1.3 megapixel camera to capture photos or videos. And because the S620 is Java enabled, gaming on the device is also fully supported.

Vital Statistics
The HTC S620 weighs 4.23 ounces and measures 4.39 x 2.46 x .51 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5.00 hours of digital talk time, and up to 216 hours of digital standby time. The device runs on the GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 frequencies, and supports 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Device, May 29, 2007

I have experienced none of the problems indicated by the previous reviewer. This phone went to Europe with me on my vacation and performed without any flaws. Battery life is reasonable under normal use. With additional software, music and MPEG videos are great. With the 200mhz processor, the device is a bit slow, but still a great performer.

4.0 out of 5 stars I really like it...., June 28, 2007

This review is from: HTC S620 Unlocked PDA Smartphone with Camera, Windows Mobile 5.0, Wi-Fi, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with No Warranty (Black) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've been using mine (an unlocked model brought back from Europe) primarily on the Cingular/AT&T network. It has roamed with me in China, India, Singapore and Australia with no problems. My work Push Outlook on WM5 works like a champ. Polling POP3 accounts works well. Out of the box my polling interval was frequent enough to affect battery life. But, that was easily fixed in the e-mail setup.

The call rejection problem mentioned by an earlier reviewer was a known issue on some T-Mobile Dash devices (there's a registry fix). I have not experienced that problem. I am waiting for the HTC Windows Mobile 6 upgrade (announced but not yet delivered) - primarily for a couple of Outlook features and some native MS Office document features. As a phone it works as expected - like an appliance with no quirks.

While on the road, I only pull out my notebook computer when I need to view or edit a MS Office document. The S620 has become my primary voice and data device. I expect WM6 will do more to keep the notebook in its carrying case.

2.0 out of 5 stars Quirky device, May 5, 2007
This review is from: HTC S620 Unlocked PDA Smartphone with Camera, Windows Mobile 5.0, Wi-Fi, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with No Warranty (Black) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
The device is stylish and compact. It utilizes a version of Windows for mobile devices that does many things Windows does including crashing, losing data, locking up, etc. That is the problem; good functionality but quirky and unreliable. My phone will spontaneously reject calls without warning, dial people on the contact list spontaneously while sitting on my desk, fail to end calls when the "end" button is pressed causing incurring charges, spontaneously go to mute in the middle of a conversation...
