I love this phone!, now I can leave my heavy laptop at home and chat or skype my friends from my near coffee shop. I used to close my mind on Motorola products for the last perhaps 10 years and now I am liberated. The last one I owned was MPX-220 smart phone. It was a piece of junk, not only because of its low voice quality but because of its low reliability. I had to get it shipped to customer services 4 times in a year.

Now what about this little gadget. It is great. I searched several top products on the market and this one is the top.

I am very pleased with it. I even configured it to work with my Bluetooth GPS. With the quality of sound/speaker it has, I am pleased with all the aspect of this phone.

I feel that I can wait till the real next generation of Mobile phones to have the same power as the latest pc. (See Sony latest handheld pc to know what I am referring to)

I added a less than $30 2GB micro SD card, and I am taking videos and pictures with very satisfying qualities.

I really feal that I now have a very good phone with very clear voice quality, good GPS, good viedeo camera, good PC that has all the connectivity methods avaialble (WiFi, bluetooth, Infrared, 3G, USB, ... whaat else you need), Good Pocket PC (PDA)..

I am happy with it, overall.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

In my opinion this phone isn't for everyone; though, for those interested in tinkering with the technology this is the phone to get! HSDPA and Global 3G support. Quad-band network coverage. WiFi. Slide-out keypad. A camera that doesn't totally suck (with video).

I found this handset a little unstable out of the box; however, this things cruises once you work out the kinks! There are plenty of terrific resources and Forums to assist with the process for those willing to put in the time to learn about it. WARNING: Before attempting to perform any updates - DO your homework and READ EVERYTHING!

BY THE WAY: This is an HTC badged version of the Cingular 8525 (this one is carrier independent). HTC is actually the manufacturer of the 8525 and many other notable Windows based Smartphones and Pocket PC phones.

I am a PPC user since 3 years ago, this phone does what is designed to do, if you are not familiar with Windows Mobile environmet it could be a little complicated, however is not "Rocket Science", I really enjoy to have everything together (Pocket PC + Mobile) in only one device, unfortunatelly my Phone Service Provider has not enable 3G Technology yet to allow Videa Calling, but anyway I am READY for Everything with this Equipment, is a little bit expensive, but it pays itself for its performance.

A Happy Customer!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars O my gosh the best phone I have ever had, December 29, 2006
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
let me start by saying that this is the first ppc I have ever had, I am comparing it to a treo 650, sony clie ux50, zire 71, and backberry. this phone has amazed me at every turn, it is just really great, and the keyboard is very comfortable and easy to use it is the best phone and organizr i have ever had
the camera is so awesome, I am in school, and now instead of taking notes I just zoom into the bord and take a picture of them, also you can use it like a document camera in macro focus mode, between getting it a month ago and now, I have had a power outage at my house, and I used the canmera flash as a flash light and it was really great.
I love it so much, I love the scroll wheel , it is really good paired with windows mobile, also if you are going to get this device definitley get the htc tytn black armor metal case, and not the silver metal one

the bad:
1. the biggest mistake htc made (this includes all their new devices) is not have a standard headphone jack at all , this leaves you with 3 options 1. use the included headphones 2. get bluetooth headphones 3. wait for the 3.5 mm to emu adapter to be available (end of january)
I chose to buy the htc s100 bluetooth headpones which work very well

2. micro sd it cute, and may be compatible with other cell phones, but there are no peripherals available for micro sd, it should be sd

3. also if you are very picky, the camera is ust a little less sensitive to light than the devices metioned above, so it cannot take oictures in rooms that re poorly lit

the phone is way better than anything I hav ever used, even in 1 signal bar areas i notice sound qulity comparible to land lines on both ends

I wanted a windows mobile 5 phone with bluetooth, 3g HSDPA UTMS and WIFI with a real qwerty keyboard for a GSM network and got this one as early as they were available and it is still working good for me. I have loaded so many applications that sometimes I get a little low on memory and would appreciate some more usable ram for running apps as the main improvement to the product. Also the fact that it's support isn't tailored toward the US area you have to go to xda-developers and the like to get good answers. Still love it after getting it back in August 2006/

1.0 out of 5 stars The phone lie us!, January 29, 2008
This review is from: HTC TyTN Unlocked PDA Smartphone with 2 MP Camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--U.S. Version with Warranty (Silver) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I don't know who is the lier. Sometimes I thinks thas is Amazon (my seller), sometimes I thinks that is HTC.

My experience when I unpackage the phone was terrible. First, I live in a pre-comunist country, and all imports are seriusly controlled. Second, the internet purcharse are limited for only 400 $ for 2008 and 3000 $ for 2007, or if I return an item, I lost the exchange cuota for these purcharse.

Now, when I open the box and draw the items, I see an HTC paper Saying: Please ignore all references to videocall feature because this was disabled. My surprise was extraordinary, because I buy this phone for this feature.

I write some emails to Amazon to claim for this. For example in the Amazon's phone description says: "TyTN also features a small forward-facing camera for making video calls". Why Amazon anounces this?. This was a month ago, and Amazon has not eliminated all referecences to video call, why?.

Amazon's respond to me about return this item, but I ask why?, why I must return the phone if I ask about a lie?. If I return this Item, I can't buy another phone for the restrictions refered previusly.

If you need a smartphone, I thinks that HTC could be a good idea, but also thinks that this version could be have many bugs (errors) that diminish the capabilities announced (for example, the videocall feature :(). Maybe this the HTC TYNT II (KAYSER) you may have better luck.

I still think that Amazon's a good place to buy, but sometimes a big structure could controller these incidents.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect, March 4, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HTC TyTN Unlocked PDA Smartphone with 2 MP Camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--U.S. Version with Warranty (Silver) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I'm a big fan of this phone. In the past, I've used an iPaq PDA with a little Samsung flip phone, then moved up to the Ipaq PDA/phone. This is the first HTC product I've purchased and I'd like to start off by suggesting that people don't confuse it with the AT&T 8525. It may look like the same phone, but the cases are not compatible.

My only disappointments with this pda/phone is:

- I've had it less than a year and the screen is shot. I've realigned it several times. Most of my taps are unresponsive. I end up dialing people inadvertently while I'm tapping around repeatedly trying to add them to my contact list. It's a pain. That problem has only started recently.

- It's sluggish. Sometimes the screen/graphics freeze up. When switching from portrait to landscape mode...more sluggish, more freezing.

- It's a tri-band phone, and I would've preferred a quad-band.

Now here's my disclaimer for these three complaints...I'm hard on pocket pc's. I like to be able to multi-task and not lose any functionality. I've added third-party software that I've run on my HP Pocket PC without issue but this phone hasn't handled it as well. I really use this thing.

I've just ordered the TyTN II to replace my TyTN with failing screen. I haven't even tried to seek help from HTC or the company I purchased it from as I live abroad. I'm hoping that TyTN II will be faster, I'm looking forward to WM 6, and since it's a quad-band, it should be terrific for the travel that I do.

I'll let you know what I think of the TyTN II when I get it.

All about this item has been a nightmare, even thought it's plenty of small package features it came with a serious screen alignment problem which could not been fixed for any of the multiple suggestions you might find in several forum ( it seems this issue is extremely frequent given the number of proposed fixes you see and none worked for me ), so I returned to the seller( R & D Marketing ) and after 14 weeks ( more than three months ago ) of wait I haven't had ANY reasonable answer of these guys and the only thing the say is that they have to send it back to Europe to the manufacturer ( HTC ) and they no have anything else to help with and not even to provide with a contact person or number at HTC to find out the status of the claim. I thing this kind of support is not worthy the suffering and time wasting and I requested a money refund, which again I still expecting for them to reply. Don't bother to buy at this store, you will regret it as I did.

HTC TyTN is the AT&T 8525 and will be discontinued with release of AT&T 8925 w/in next two weeks. Will drop in price to the $100-$200 level in my opinion. TyTN otherwise reviewed as a good phone.
