5.0 out of 5 stars A html REFERENCE book that actually does what it says!, July 31, 1998
This review is from: The HTML 4 Programmer's Reference: The Ultimate Resource for HTML Programmers (Hardcover)
Atlast, a computer book that does what it says! If you are just starting out learning HTML and want a book to teach you how it's done - this book isn't for you, but then it isn't a learn HMTL book. IF however you know the basics, but need a book to double check the syntax of a tag or tagset THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! It is a good, solid reference book, listing all the HTML tags, their usage and their support levels - for both Internet Explorer & Netscape as well as HTML standards. To summerise - This book doesn't try to teach HTML, just list everything you want to know about a tag when you are actually working with HTML (and don't want to plow through miles of examples on how to use the <TD> tag to find <TD VALIGN="TOP"> is the tag to align cell contents to the top of the cell. As a learn HTML book its ** stars...but as a reference ***** is hardly enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars I use this book., January 31, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The HTML 4 Programmer's Reference: The Ultimate Resource for HTML Programmers (Hardcover)
The previous review is exactly right. This book is an outstanding reference. On the HTML guru scale I would rate myself about an 8 on a 10 scale. This is the book that I grab when I have a question about an HTML tag and I want the answer fast.

4.0 out of 5 stars HTML explained, January 30, 2002

This is the kind of programming manual we seem to lack nowadays. Instead of wordy narrative and examples which do not quite fit the problems that come up in practice we have here abstract definitions of the grammar and lexicon of the language, very much what the programmer needs when reading a text or when trying to work out a new programming problem but unsure of just what each item in the language does.
