More About the Author

I moved to Barcelona in 1987 to study bilingualism but found a job in a computer company instead. After managing the translation of many different computer programs (FreeHand, PageMaker, Illustrator, and more), I started a publishing company to translate and publish computer books in Spanish. In 1993, moved back to the US to write my own books. Started with Netscape, and then moved on to HTML, Perl, XML, Blogger, iPhoto, and most recently EPUB. Thank Ms. Castro. I bought your book about 2 years ago and I began a small web business and today I have dozens of web sites on the net. I did this part-time with little other investments. I estimate I have made 30K or more. The best part is I am still using the book for quick reference. I gave the book to my brother and he became a web master of a internet company. I Asked for the book back and then passed it to a cousin who now has your new book. Your book changed our lives. Now that is the best review I can give. Thank you for a clear, concise, visual book that helps the novice become the master.

There are so many computer books about learning HTML available, most cost $30 or more and are prohibitively HUGE and imposing. If you break down (or save up) and buy one, chances are great that you will be disappointed. That's because if you are unfamiliar with the subject, picking a "good" book about it can be nearly impossible. You can save yourself time, money, anxiety and backstrain by picking up Elizabeth Castro's Visual Quickstart Guide: HTML for the World Wide Web. Don't let the fact that it is cheaper and smaller than many titles offered fool you into thinking it is inferior. This is FAR from the truth. It is exactly what the novice to HTML programming needs. A text that covers the basics without drowning them in tech-speak designed to impress. You will be able to pick it up and really read it. And this is the secret, it's readability. You will be able to understand what she is describing and put it into action yourself! Do yourself a favor, start your collection with this book or add it to yours now...you won't regret it

I purchased this book after thumbing though it and it did indeed seem a whole lot better than those aimed at "dummies". A whole lot better in fact, and at $18.00 a far better bargain. HOWEVER, two days after buying this book I found Joe Burn's "HTML Goodies" book which is far better in every respect. More thought provoking, more complete and a whole lot more fun to read, with many "tricks of the trade" included. I just ordered Joe's book from Amazon.com and at less than $18.00, it's the buy of a lifetime for HTML newbies like myself.!
