Product Description

The HUE USB camera is a cost-effective alternative to a standard classroom document camera/visualiser. Easy to use and portable, this camera is popular with teachers and students throughout the world.

The camera is 'plug and play' on Windows PCs and Macs (see System Requirements) and compatible with most video conferencing, streaming and web-casting software i.e. Skype, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, iChat, FaceTime, uStream etc.

By connecting your HUE camera to your computer and a projector you can share students' work, books, experiments and pictures.

Use the camera for real time live video and for recording sound and video. The HUE USB camera produces excellent image quality even when projected onto a whiteboard.

The built-in microphone allows you to record your presentation or a student speaking about a topic. With its weighted base and flexible neck, HUE can also be used to magnify very small items such as insects, circuit boards and more to share them with the whole classroom.

Seemed like a match made in Heaven.

Does not seamlessly integrate with Windows 7 Movie Maker which should be a no-brainer.

Affordable...Works pretty well as a cheap version of a document camera.

I am a teacher and have been looking for a webcam/document camera to use in my classroom to project things onto my smartboard. When pricing document cameras I was finding a lot of prices in the $300-$500 range, that just isn't doable with my classroom budget or teacher's salary!
The HUE HD webcam came to the rescue with it's attractive price and it's ease of use. It is definitely not as high quality as one of the super expensive cameras, but it works well enough to go over a worksheet, read a picture book, or demonstrate lessons with manipulatives for the class to see on the board.
If you are looking for something that is actually High definition or has laser sharp focusing, I would look elsewhere. If you are looking for an inexpensive camera to let you do the basics, I think this is a great solution!

Although you could use this product for what it is designed for, as a webcam, it has another fantastic use... animation.
As an elementary school teacher and Dad I have used this camera with kids making little animated films. It is totally adjustable because of the goose neck so you can position it over your cut-outs or paper dolls and then use the manual focus to get it just right. Using a free program like SAM animation (mac) or Monkey Jam (pc) you can have your own little animation studio for just the cost of this camera and whatever computer you are using to read this message. The price of this camera is peanuts compared to all the hours kids can get from using it for little animated bits. If they aren't into it you still have a wonderful webcam.

solved my need to be able to magnify regular text from books onto my monitor. Easy to move around text and gives a clear, crisp recommendation.
