5.0 out of 5 stars JENOVA would be proud.
Of all of the Final Fantasy-related replicas, this is one of my favorites. The blade is perfect, the wrapped handle is sturdy, the sheath is beautiful, and although it isn't fully-tanged, the steel of the blade extends (in mine, anyway) over halfway into the handle for stability.
(but it isn't actually as long as Sephiroth's; his is like 9 feet!)

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT sephiroths sword
This is NOT sephiroths sword, its just a long samurai sword. i bought this because there were customer images that seemed legit, but i didn't got the same product, i guess the main diference is the square thing ( i think its called tsuba) is rounded and it has a dragon on it.

The quality of the sword ain't bad, and it is a big sword as it says, but as final...

I recentlt bought this for my husband, we were in an asian store where he saw a similar one and said how "cool" it was. The store was selling it for twice the price that I bought it for on amazon! When it arrived I couldn't wait for Christmas to give it to him, so I presented it and he was pretty excited. My husband is 6'6" tall, and you really have to be to even get the sword out of the sheath! It's so huge, and the blade is semi-sharp so be aware of theat. He kept is by him and proceded to play with it like a little kid. I'd have to say, it was definitely worth it to see the look on his face.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth what it costs, January 18, 2011

The blade looks very good. The bohi runs along very nearly the full length of the blade. Unlike what the advertising says, that blade is clearly not high-carbon steel; or at the very least, it's the lower of the 'high' carbon steel varieties. It's okay though - to find a high carbon blade under $100 is unheard of.

The tsuba isn't what Sephiroth had in Advent Children - it's a dragon or sorts instead of being a solid gold square. The tsuka is curved, suggesting the blade was stock cut from a block of steel that was milled into a blade shape instead of being "hand forged." The menuki is small and plastic, making it useless for providing additional grip; it's also plastic and fit for left-handed people (perfect for Sephiroth, actually!). It's half-tang with seemingly unstable meguki (pegs that hold the tang into the tsuka).

Long story short: blade itself looks great; blade fittings look great; the hilt clearly points out the 'prop'-nature of the sword as a whole; the sword is neither "hand forged" nor "high carbon." I highly recommend this sword for prop-usage - for its cost, it's a good deal. Other prop/wall-hangers I've seen are a million times worse and cost in the low 100s instead of ~80.

This sword looks great! It is pretty difficult to remove from its sheath, seems like it was improperly made, but all around a very nice sword. Thanks!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, December 3, 2011

I was really skeptical about buying this sword I've seen alot of swords like this that have like 25% tangs and the blade bends like a wet noodle, but this one is actually perfect the blade doesn't bend at all since its a 50% tang and its actually pretty sturdy no loose hilt or anything else that feels like junk for the price being only $100.

The only negative thing i have to complain about the sword in whole is the sheath or scabbard. The scabbard is complete junk its made out of cheap feeling wood and has glue all inside it probably to keep it together and every time i put it inside or pull it out glue gets all over the blade it isn't a completely terrible thing but its annoying also i can see cutting the scabbard up pretty badly at the insert point cause its such a tight fit which sooner or later this thing will probably get a little loose after the insert gets cut to much but for now it feels nice and secure since it doesn't have any metal pieces keeping it together at the lip or bottom.

All in all this sword is pretty amazing for $100 its sturdy isn't loose or wobbly, the point is really sharp and the blade is decently to. Scabbard is junk though but it does its job and looks nice it was only meant for display in the first place so cant complain to much since the sword itself isn't complete crap. This is the best "Sephiroth sword replica" I've ever seen for the price and it not being garbage so if you ever wanted one id say buy this soon before its gone.

5.0 out of 5 stars What I expected, June 9, 2011

This review is from: HUGE 68 inch Sephiroth Masamune Sword (Misc.)
When I bought this I was aiming for something that could last while being the most accurate representation of Sephiroth's blade. This sword meets everything I was aiming for when I bought it. The hilt guard is a different design, and the wrappings are a different color. If you were aiming for a perfect replica, this won't be the sword for you. But the sword is close, and it is very well made. I'm not the best at guessing weight, but I would place it close to 10 pounds. It is also durable enough that I feel I could swing at practise target with it and not fear the sword breaking or snapping. All told, It's a durable sword that met everything I wanted with the purchase.
